You don't have to stay downtown to enjoy CWS. My husband and son are staying in Council Bluffs, just across the river. They stayed there 2 years ago when they went.

I was there in 2011. It's great to stay downtown and walk everywhere, but it is pricey. The airport and hotels around it are about 2 miles away, easy traveling. Council bluff is about 5 miles away across the river, and rooms are cheaper there too.
Every day the put tickets up for sale at the stadium for that day's games, but you have to get in line early, probably before 7am, to assure a ticket for a reserved seat. They allow general admission tickets in before each game, which are outfield seats but still good seats. Lots of walking area around the stadium also.
You can save by staying outside area and cab ride in.

Shouldn't you be asking Hog fans this question?

You can always buy GA tickets. They sell them in books of 10 at the stadium and other place around town. Of course, that doesn't mean you are guaranteed a seat. It's first come first serve on gameday and especially on the first weekend the lines can be long, so you have to get there early.

They are only selling tournament packages. I'm only going to be able to make our first 2 games.

Two games is about all your team is going to be there anyway.

I live in Omaha. The new stadium is downtown so you usually have to park in lots, some of the Creighton University lots are available as are other business lots. There is some street parking but not a lot. The bulk of the fans from out of town do stay in the hotels that are adjacent, no parking worries, but FAR less tailgating than at Rosenblatt. Traffic is less of a problem since so many can just walk from their hotel rooms, so I would personally say if you don't care about walking back and forth, that staying a distance away won't be a big issue. It's a completely different atmosphere than Rosenblatt, more mellow and kind of aloof. I sincerely hope the return of the LSU Tigers will help change that back to the old ways! Omaha loves LSU!
