Which is the better coach? Bill Parcells or Tom Coughlin

I know you're gut might be telling you that Bill Parcells is a better coach than Tom Coughlin but the numbers tell a different story.
Bill Parcells
Regular season 172–130–1 (.569)
Postseason 11–8 (.579)
Career record 183–138–1 (.570)
Super Bowl wins XXI, XXV
Championships won - NFC (1986, 1990) - AFC (1996)
Tom Coughlin
Regular season 151-121-0 (.555)
Postseason 12-7 (.632)
Career record 162-128-0 (.559)
Super Bowl wins XLII, XLVI
Championships won - NFC (2007, 2011)
I think that Parcells, while definitely successful, owes much of his legacy, if you will, to the persona that he has created for himself (i.e. his brash attitude and his relationship with the media).
Coughlin, while temperamentally similar, isn't looked at in the same vein for whatever reason even though he has enjoyed similar successes in the NFL. Some may even say that he has grossly underachieved with the talent the Giants have had over the past decade.
What say you?

Bill. He proved it to me when he had even a little success with the most dysfunctional organization in the League.

Jets didn't win the AFC that year bro.

Parcells, but he's a better cook than grocery shopper.

ooooooooooooops.
I was thinking of when the Jets played Denver in 1998 for the AFC Championship.
condolences.

The thing I love about Coughlin is both times they were so close to firing him, he wins a freaking Super Bowl.

the Jets were an absolute mess when Parcells took over. Even though they didn't win a conference title or anything, I think that was one of his finer hours as a head coach. I know people will disagree with that but he had them playing so much better in just a short amount of time.

I respect that. I'm not one of the many MSB posters who think it's a title or nothing.

another season where I think Parcells separates himself here is 1990.
even though the Giants had a nice record, their offense wasn't very explosive. When Phil Simms went down, I'm not sure many thought that freaking Jeff Hostetler would end leading them to a Super Bowl win.
Coughlin was actually an offensive assistant that year for the Giants.

Parcells took a Vinny Testaverde lead Jets team that won like 2 games in 1996 to an AFC Championship game in 1998.
Cowboys hadn't sniffed the playoffs, he shows up, they go to the playoffs.
Turned the Patriots organization completely around.
And the Giants for that matter.

George young did that, but you're right to an extent. its parcells hands down, giants teams are WAY too inconsistent under coughlin to even consider it.

there you go again...
too bad Parcells never took an expansion team to success from day 1.
Coughlin's coached his entire career after the start of free agency. Coughlin's also won the Super Bowl twice as big underdogs, once by beating the unbeatable Patriots
