Many of the kids that will start for Curtis just came in 8th-9th grade. Kind of hard to have holdbacks when kids don't show up till high school.

and I know many of those kids.. and many of them were held back.... prior to arriving at curtis...

More special teams incompetence than kicking. WM scored on kick return and recovered a kickoff deep in Aug territory when Aug played it like a punt and simply didn't recover it.

Name names or get off it. Otherwise you are just perpetuating stereotypes.

I can name like 20 kids from that period that were held back and didnt have a shot at playing CFB. They were just solid HS players that were held back for football.

Their parents would say maturity issues, or school, something like that. I know a kid who was valedictorian when he graduated who was held back

That was the big gripe in WM. All of the kids that were being chosen as Who's Who, favorites, etc were taking all of the spots. Same with basketball and baseball teams

that was EXACTLY how it was explained to me and my bride by a parent from the team you follow...

she said.. imagine your kid at the school he is at now.. A grade ahead.... she said 60% OR more of the boys.. playing sports..were hold backs.....

When it was 8th grade? I'd say that's pretty close. Now? I'd say 20% at most. Only 4-5 per school. It's not anywhere close to what it was before.

5 starters on the WM baseball team this past year were holdbacks and a couple pitchers also

Sorry, I was saying 20% of football starters. Your numbers don't surprise me for baseball.

ETA: It actually hurts you to holdback for baseball though. MLB wants to get a hold of you as early as possible.

an odd team slips to the quarters in one class or another every year...

3a is very stout..

last year's state champ was 4-0 vs 5A playoff teams..

There was a big difference between Parkview and the rest of the teams in 3a last year. Its kind of irrelevant since they are with the select teams now.
