Best way to get smoke from a gas grill

Can it be done? If so, how.
I have the little smoke box, but when i put it on the grates, no smoke. When i put it directly on the burners, the chips burn to nothing in less than 5 minutes.
I know i cant achieve smokehouse flavor but there has to be a way to get at least a little smoke.

I had a gas grill before I got my current pit. The only way I was able to achieve any type of smoke was if I used several small aluminum pans with soaked chips. It wasn't the best smoked flavor, but it was some.

Put in a gallon of diesel and light it, you will get smoke.

My husband has something called a Smoke Daddy(?) attached to the back of his Weber grill. He uses it a lot and everything still turns out great.

I have a Weber gas grill with a smoke box that has a dedicated burner. This allows me to keep the temperature lower directly under the wood so as not to burn it off too quickly. AFter playing around with it, I've gotten it to work pretty good.

YES YOU CAN! Go here, LINK buy one of these. Smoke problems over.
I have and electric smoker that I had to feed chips to about every 45 minutes. I bought the 5x8 A-Maze-N - Pellet Smoke generator (AMNS) and now can get 11 hours of smoke if I need it.
Their customer service is outstanding. Everything I've ordered from them has been at front door step within 3 days. Order it today and it will be at your house Monday. And that's through the USPS!
You will not regret it!

Tell me more about this. How does it work exactly?

I just buy those pieces of hickory or some other wood that you wrap in foil and place on the grill

All it is really is a stainless steel, perforated rectangle that is designed like a maze. Thus the name "A-Maze-N- Pellet Smoke generator" AMNPS.
If you go to the link you will see that it has two V shaped ribs running through the middle of it. You pour the pellets between the ribs filling up the trough (sp)said trauf. lol. Essentially it make a long fuse of pellets. A full tray will provide 11 hours of smoke of your choice. Not just any smoke but THIN BLUE SMOKE!
Also go here LINK for a detailed discussion of this product.
