quote:

Sterling told the Times that Del Negro "is a wonderful man" and that he's "sad about the whole thing."

Sterling was asked by the Times if Del Negro was fired "just to hang on to Chris Paul."

Sterling said: "I always want to be honest and not say anything that is not true. So I'd rather not say anything. But you know, the coach did a really good job. I think he did. And I liked working with him. There are just factors that make life very complicated and very challenging."

The Times then asked Sterling if it was "off base" to say the "players are now calling the shots."

"No, you're not off base," Sterling said. "This is a players' league, and, unfortunately, if you want to win, you have to make the players happy."

no mention of a new coach's skin color requirements.

Isn't Sterling one of the most racist ppl on the planet?

Surprising if they hire a black coach

Let's not act like this was a Dwight/SVG situation. Del Negro sucked and wasn't getting extended no matter what.

not saying del negro was a great coach and deserved to stay but cp3 trying to play the victim here is ridiculous. I don't believe for a second he wasn't involved in the decision

This.

It was common perception that VDN was probably going to get fired if evaluated from a basketball POV, but he was Sterling's boy and CP3's upcoming contract negotiations would impact the team's option on him.

Sterling not retaining him means either CP3 explicitly wanted him gone or the organization was lead to believe CP3 wanted him gone, such as one of his little butt boys dropping hints to management.

The difference between this and the shite show that was his last few seasons in New Orleans is that an owner called him out on his bullshite.

Shinn never would and the NBA certainly wasn't going to do it when he was dogging it in New Orleans.

CP3 acting all innocent. Disliked him since the day he left. Clippers thinking they are relevant.

I swear, I don't know why David Stern hasn't called Donald Sterling into his office for a private meeting, then put a pistol on the desk and said "Look you motherfricker, you're selling that team to Larry Ellison for $750 million."

The MLB took the Reds away from Marge Schott because of the stupid shite she said. A court found that Sterling actually did racist shite. And he's a horrid owner with a team in a tremendous market.

It's the common perception because it was true. The only reason ever given for possibly retaining Del Negro was because Sterling might be too cheap to get another coach.

Players were leading a charge to push out Vinny last year around the all star break after a losing streak. Their actions during the time showed they were on the verge of quitting on him. Of course cheap Sterling wasn't going to fire him and be on the hook while having to pay a new coach. There are only two players on that roster with a say so or input to management. I guess Chris didn't take to kindly to Sterling being that upfront or not shielding him from any criticism.

Which shows the utter stupidity of sterling. He calls it a players league and then throws his FA superstar under the bus.

CP3 the player >>>>>>> VDN the coach.
