Wow! Another washed up group using a cash grab on nostalgic fans. No thanks.

Who would you want to see in Baton Rouge?

I'm not a Furs fan but i'm curious.

they are playing at the House of Blues in Houston as well. I'm not even going to waste my money.

This is good for the doc and the shitty Baton Rouge music scene though.

This show is good for the Varsity and fans of nostalgia and the 80's.

Japandroids, Taj Mahal, Buxton, The Thermals, the Denton Hatcher types, The clay Parkers, Jason Eady etc are good for the BR music scene. Hardly shitty for a town it's size.

The Thermals,

Freaking awesome live. Saw them once with the Obits and I thought I was gonna die from pogoing so much.

Nostalgia acts sell, though they don't really move my needle at all. Except Neutral milk Hotel, and there's no chance in hell they play BR. A solo show in Dallas had aftermarket ticket prices of $300. I think NMH could charge almost anything and get it.

So you think Neutral Milk Hotel is impossible for BR? I know for a fact that BR is on the radar for a possible spring tour. They are playing the musical meccas of Chattanooga, Birmingham and Urbana, Illinois on the fall tour!

BR is very much in play.

If it happens, then good for BR... but yeah, I think them and many other bands are out of BR grasp (unless they go out of their way to go to certain types of cities, it does happen)... That could be said of many cities...

They released a touchstone album for people who like a certain kind of music and then promptly went away. They have not toured in over a decade, and when they did tour, about 100 people saw them. Their reputation has only gotten bigger over the years and they are the now default band to reference as a major influence. Going away actually made them more popular.

NMH was one of those bands the "cool kids" used to sort out the poseurs and johnny come latelys. They had a certain cachet.

When that record came out in '98, it was a "holy shite" moment for people who followed indie rock... it was a game changer and raised the bar... Now, unfortunately, like many influential records, it spawned soooo many crappy imitators that kinda turned that sound inside out and made me want to vomit

A neutral mill hotel show has to be the most annoying audience show

Wavves - Probably a OEJ show.
Lettuce - The only place Lettuce would play in LA is Nola.
Lotus - Doesn't even sell tickets in Nola. Why would they play BR?
Kurt Vile - Would play Tipitinas.
Neutral Milk Hotel - Also a OEJ show.
Tobacco - Not big enough for Varsity , maybe spanish moon.

Any other ideas?

You are proving my point by saying all those bands would play in N.O. over BR
