Credit Card for a Student

I am trying to get a credit card in order to build a good credit line. I want to use it for just gas and groceries in order to pay it off immediately and not pay interest. I am wondering what credit card I would be approved for, since I have virtually no credit and am just a graduate student without a job.
I tried a few a while back, but I got rejected.
ETA: I would like to do this solo without my parents involvement.

Might only be able to get a secured credit card.

Who do you bank with?

Ya, if your dad has something like USAA they will probably issue a CC to you. Hence its a good question.
Some companies have "student credit cards" which are normal credit cards (not secured) just with low limits.

Check with them first and see what options they have.

Why don't you want your parents involved? I don't see the downside to having someone with much more experience having access to what I am doing with my credit

Capital One Journey Student Rewards Card
My son just got approved for this one. $500 student starter card with rewards. He had zero credit before applying but he does have some income from his summer job working for me. He was approved on his own.

I will add that from my experience, Capital One is a little looser with their lending as well. I had two cards from college and then applied for the Venture as a stepping stone to other cards. My highest limit at the time was $3,000. Cap One gave me 10,000.
Really helped me with Chase Sapphire approval down the road.
