Texas State Championship Adam Taylor vs Cedar Hill

40 carries 275 yards 5 TDs.

Bouncing from the missed opportunity thread, after his ACL injury his junior year, he came back and ran for 2700 yards and 44 TDs his senior year. Kept seeing this guy's name mentioned on here as to why we didn't get him, and just didn't seem that important to me.

Looking at this dude in this game he displayed speed, power, and home run ability. This is prototypical Miles back at 6'1 210 4.5 40. After tearing his ACL and being turned away by Miles in the summer, did this motivate him to become even better? He's the type of back who could take 30 carries a game and get stronger as the D wears down. Was it the ACL injury, Leonard Fournette, or the fact that he didn't think that both Ford and Ware would leave?

Hindsight is 20/20 but since that time we have lost 2 backs to the NFL, one who may miss anywhere from 2 games to a whole season, one coming off a knee injury with no real SEC game play, one who seemed like he has regressed, and one who has not been able to crack the top five. I mean it's LSU right, but just remember the 2009 debacle of Charles, Keiland, and Murphy (pre-injury). We were down to Ridley and Trindon by the Arkansas game.

Only reason I'm writing this now is because from that one game I know this guy will be a real good one for Nebraska.

I didn't like the idea of not taking a RB last year before Ford and Ware declared and Hill was suspended.

FIFY and I doubt he misses anymore than maybe the TCU game.

Flat out wrong. Did you not watch the 2011 SEC championship?

Was there at that game and the kid went off. He looked and ran like the typical RB we have grown to love at LSU.

I understand he wanted to keep the cupboard empty for Fournette, but if Adam Taylor really would have scared Fournette away, I would have had more questions about him than taking Taylor

Why weren't Texas and A&M interested?

I questioned it the entire time last year. If LF goes elsewhere LSU is fricked

I think we missed out big time on AT, there's no guarantee LSU will land "The Chosen one". If we lose LF this wont be the first time Miles shoots and misses on a great player while getting dissed by another.

Not necessarily wrong. Blue only has 62 carries vs SEC opponents in 3 years. And all of those games were blowouts and he was getting mop up duty. In his career he only has 11 carries when the game was either tied or we were losing. Which means, minus the 3 games he played this past season, majority of his carries were mop up duty. He hasnt gotten a meaningful carry yet at LSU. And im a big Blue fan, but he really hasnt had any real SEC play or any meaningful carries. The 2011 SEC championship game we were up 28-10 and there was 6 minutes left when Blue broke off a 48 yard TD. The game was well in hand.

And, again, Im a huge Blue fan. Hes a fan favorite. But, his resume of work and stats are misleading when you take a deeper look at the numbers. He either dominated teams like Towson, North Texas, Idaho, etc. or tore up teams late in the game when victory was well in hand.

But in regards to the OP, we should of taken 1 RB last year. We knew that we would lose at least 1 RB to the draft with Ware and Ford, and ended up losing both. That leaves us with Hill, Blue, Hilliard, and Magee as scholly backs. Blue is injury prone and has not gotten a meaningful carry yet at LSU. Hilliard looked good as a freshman, then regressed in his 2nd year. Magee hasnt received much PT. Hill is a stud, and there was no way of knowing that he would be in the situation he is. And even if he didnt get in trouble, that would still leave us with just 1 proven, elite back. The other ones have their issues.

It was a smart move by Les to secure Fournette. All the "what ifs" about the RBs currently on the team is just people being paranoid.

That would be true if he was "secured". And I think we do end up with LF. But, you never know what can happen.

And Ipodking ive always wanted to know what your pic is from?

That's what I would think at the early stage of his recruitment. The fact that nobody jumped into his recruitment late in the game when it was clear he had recovered tells me college coaches weren't sold on something about him. It didn't seem like he was absolutely 100% committed to Nebraska when he verbaled to them. If everyone wanted him and LSU turned him down for some reason, LF or as a numbers casualty, then it would probably be easier to question the decision.

I can see what you're saying but come on, LSU was going to lose Ford, Ware, Hilliard, and Blue by the time Fournette got here (This was before J. Hill even got a carry). Fournette would have had Taylor, Magee, and possibly Hill when he came to campus. Compare that to the 9000 backs Bama had and the backs that FSU had and it sums up that competition would be anywhere he wanted to go.

I mean look Trent played behind Ingram, Lacy played behind Trent, Yeldon played behind Lacy and Henry will play behind Yeldon. If anything Taylor would have been playing behind Hill and Fournette would be playing behind Taylor (IMO of Taylor's talent).

dumb thread. LF is a once in a generation back. LSU is and should be all in for LF. I saw adam taylor play in the state playoffs. he is good but not at all special. adam taylor is to katy what lacy was to bama. a good back with a very good ol and a very good team. Good move by LSU.
