First, Pierce on the Pelicans roster means nothing. And even if he did play for one year, so what? Watching a great player for one year at the end of his career? You're still essentially trading back to the 16th pick just to dump Gordon. That's crazy talk.
Look, if you just want to dump Gordon by any means necessary (which, imo, is a desperation move that is unwarranted at this point) you can do better than this.

No one wants to trade back to the 16th pick. They want to trade Gordon for Pierce and the 16th pick.

They amount to the same thing. You just get a shortened contract . . . and, as mentioned earlier, they would buy Pierce out.

Yea, Pierce wouldn't play a single second for us.
It would be about dumping Gordon's contract, having more cap space, and the 16th pick as a bonus.
I don't know that cap space really does us more good, unless they really know that Gordon's knee is completely fricked.

I guess that depends on what our other possibilities are through free agency.
The main 2 I can think of us bringing in as a replacement is Redick, as I see Monta Ellis getting on Monty's bad side through jacking up shots and getting lazy on defense while Iggy will demand too much for a player of his age and our prospects for the next few years.

That would be trading him for the 16th pick in the draft. Pass.
They should be working on trades, though. They need a 2nd impact young player, but I doubt they'll get it in this draft.

for all that approve this trade. i give you this Paul Pierce national article that was posted about five hours ago.
That article cites a `national article.' That article is commentary on the real article by a fan.

We basically did this deal with Baron Davis for Speedy and trash. No thanks.
