I'm sure there will be some obscure root beers listed here (if any ).

And that's cool. Give your suggestions.

But also list the best out of the usuals. Mug, barg's, a&w, etc .

I usually go with barg's. I like to try new kinds as well. When I see them that is.

I think it's hard to beat an abita rootbeer when I'm craving one.

The old red label Barq's in a glass bottle. It was a sad day when production stopped.

Probably my problem. I don't really drink soft drinks anymore. I will occasionally have a root beer or cream soda. In that case I get a weird brand. Just curious.

I tried Frostop in the one liter bottle on Saturday. It was awful.

I usually drink Mug because its caffeine free.

People who respond "Barq's" or "IBC"...

It's clear that you probably have never tried anything else

Do yourselves a favor and go pick up a 4-6 pack of microbrewed cane sugar root beer and I assure you, you won't answer the question the same any more.

I'm sorry, man. I am a food snob. But believe me, I'm suggesting this for your own interest. Try a Virgil's Root Beer and if you don't like it more than Barq's, I'll take everything back.
