Talk about the ultimate frick you to the administration.

The CAA Tournament win came more than two months after the university announced plans to eliminate both the baseball and men's soccer team.

After protests from the team, and objections from Comptroller Peter Franchot and some state lawmakers, the university reversed its decision on the baseball team.

The Maryland General Assembly this year approved $300,000 in the capital budget that would go to the University System of Maryland which could then use the money to help restore the baseball team.

The team would then be forced to raise $100,000 by the end of June to keep the team operating, and more money next year.

Earlier this week, Towson University Athletics Director Mike Waddell, who was one of the university officials who recommended eliminating the baseball team, announced that he is leaving the university for a position at the University of Arkansas.

Sweet justice.

I thought it was pretty awesome that after they announced the decision to cut the program, the team played their games with the university's name blacked out on their jerseys.

I wonder how much money Towson baseball loses a year, how many people go these games, and what it costs taxpayers each year. Dont see much "justice" here all around.

THat team should fundraise every year if they want to play it seems.

If the program is just hemorrhaging money I agree 100%

RIght. These events are pretty independent. It would be an awesome story if the CAA title generated gobs of money for the program but I doubt it has much effect at that level of college baseball.

they can't be any worse than most of the poorer schools that keep teams...

unless you want to see the entire nation consist of about 50 teams

I don't watch cbb so it really doesn't matter to me. I think this has to be handled on a case by case basis. I certainly don't fault a school for thinking its not in their best interest to field a team.
