re: Report: Obama to restart Gitmo transfers

Keep reading. Those are the ones that got caught and most died. So do you also advocate that Obama let terrorists, already on American soil go into a witness protection program?

quote:

Many of the released terrorists are being held by foreign governments or were killed.

“They’re not only in Syria but in adjoining countries,” said one official familiar with intelligence reports. “A number of Gitmo parolees have graduated out of their rehab programs and returned to the fight.”

The official was referring to several programs run by governments in the Middle East and North African states that use special “rehabilitation” program designed to re-educate Islamist terrorists and prevent them from returning to violent jihadism.

Saudi Arabia’s government has claimed that its terrorism rehabilitation program has converted former terrorists.

However, U.S. critics have said many Islamist radicals are able to fool the government officials running those programs into believing they have changed and then they flee and re-join terrorist groups.

Your own article in the OP doesn't say they are being released. It says they may be transferred to Yemeni prisons. The Yemeni government is fighting its own war against terrorism, and has even more to lose from radical Jihadists than we do. Do you think they will be allowed to roam freely?

re: Report: Obama to restart Gitmo transfers

And you believe Obama when he says that's where they will go? even if it reforms them? Most released terrorists from GTMO's home countries tell Obama to frick off and don't want them. So they all end up as the article I posted said. As well as you do realize Obama is usurping Congress with this move doing back door deals, and will need to write another shady EO, correct? So yeah, you believe they wil alll go to the Shady Rest in Petticoat Junction.

You did not answer my question: do you advocate that Obama should allow terrorists on our soil into our witness protection program, or not?

I believe what I have read through my extensive education and my current job duties much more than some redneck, armchair pundit.

This is probably good. Well, they'll probably be pardoned in a few years, anyway....

You shouldn't bother arguing with Republican Rexette.

And you still FAIL in your better than all education and big important job duties to answer my fricking question.

When someone has to mention they are educated and have a big important job while calling someone they are in discussion with a redneck. It says they are YOU. Which ain't much.

Additionally, the Yemeni government is a de facto US ally in the War on Terror and doesn't concern itself with the Geneva Conventions. If the detainees that are transferred are actual jihadis, they will be dealt with in a way that we never could by law.
Yep. Let em go, watch them, and if they start doing jihadi shite again, send a reaper.

Could these frickers potentially be intelligence assets if we let them go and watched where they ran too? If they're going back to terrorists, use it.

They all need to be chipped before we release them. The liberal love for terrorists in this thread is funny. I wonder sometimes what makes educated people so damn stupid.

U.S. intelligence agencies recently reported that 168 terrorists of 602 detainees that were transferred to other countries from Guantanamo rejoined terrorist groups or otherwise took part in insurgent and terrorist activities.

The same intelligence agencies that reported that chemical weapons have been used in Syria and that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction?

Agreed. They are so smart they are ignorant? They think this is a good idea just because Obama does. Yet they failed to understand this.

quote:

In a speech at National Defense University on Thursday, Obama will lay out his case for closing Guantánamo, which he has said it no longer necessary and hurts U.S. interests abroad.

Obama will also touch on the legal justification for using drones to target terrorists in his speech. Attorney General Eric Holder told Congress Wednesday that the U.S. has killed four Americans in drone attacks in the first public admission by the Obama administration. The president signed an executive order in his first term to close Guantánamo, but he generated little momentum to do so amid congressional opposition.

Gitmo opponents in Congress have urged Obama in recent weeks to do what he can on his own to release detainees in the prison to third countries.

There are 86 detainees at Guantánamo who have been cleared for release. Congress has passed restrictions on where the detainees can be sent, but there is a waiver that gives the administration some leeway if national security concerns are allayed.

The instability in Yemen and the operations of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) led the administration to stop sending detainees to Yemen.

Critics of releasing Gitmo detainees have warned that released detainees will be allowed to rejoin the fight against the U.S.
