Tiger Stadium Gameday condos.....why not?

Why can't LSU make gameday condos out of the old student dorm rooms in Tiger Stadium? I'm sure LSU alumni, fans, corporations and fraternities
would pay for such a convenience. It would also ease the traffic after the game because many would hang around in their condos and socialize.
Probably would have some asbestos issues, but nothing purple and gold dollars couldn't solve.
Just curious.......

It will never be ready in time

Dittos...not sure how problematic the asbestos issue is though. It would be a tremendous marketing move and revenue source. Wonder if TAF would take on such a project.

Part of the problem is they would be part of the stadium, therefore under the rules of lsu, ie, no alcohol. The uppers get away with this bc they aren't part of tje stadium, they are separate intities.

I feel like this is a once a year thread so I'll give you the once a year answer.
And it's bad.

Probably?
Hard to eat and drink while wearing appropriate PPE

It gets brought up yearly. The cost is very high and no current funds in place to do so. Other projects more important. It'd take a special fundraiser to do it anytime soon. Not gonna happen. I give enough money to LSU. I'm not paying for that.

I call Dibs on my old room in NS, but only if its Air Conditioned this time.

All wording that can be changed and they can do the same thing with the condos saying they "sold" them from the stadium or whatnot and they are no longer part of the stadium saying that the condos are seperate entities. They can work their way around it just like they do with the stupid technicality that allows alcohol in the suites. The real problem boils down to asbestos as many others have stated.

A couple things
Asbestos
Existing projects... In short.. All upcoming projects are directly towards to: recruiting, aesthetics, and revenue
It will take a donor(s) willing to fund he cleanup before this project gets off the ground.

Farm out the project to a corp. or put it up for bid. Or sell shares to tiger fans and the public with a payout when its finished. Bet the gumps would find a way. It can be done.

Asbestos and lead paint....i lived through Pentagon renovation (before and after 9/11) and they stripped the individual wedge down to the concrete...not sure if you could get a grant for east or west stadium due to the upper decks covering them up (although you could make an argument about them being historic structures)
at this point doing something like that to north stadium makes the most sense since part of the remediation is already completed....

1. Asbestos/Lead
2. No A/C, very low ceilings and no great place outside to put a condenser. Window units aren't an option after the money they spent to renovate the outside and install sealed windows.
3. Communal bathrooms

Where there is a will and $$$ there is a way
Unfortunately there is no will and no $ at this time.

Anyone know what's in those old dorm rooms now? Are they used for storage or something?

It's not asbestos.
It's the will of the department to embrace a vision that was laid out in 04 which included making Tiger Stadium the finest football facility in America, and TAF used politics to stop it.
The North end zone is controlled by the Ath Dept. The other three sections are controlled by the University. All three were going to be leased under an cooperative endeavor agreement to allow the suites to be built along with food courts, shopping, health center, hotel, it was a 60 million overhaul at the time, now probably like 80.
SO, asbestos is always used as the excuse by those that don't know the real answers.
POLITICS is why it hasn't happened.
Maybe one day it will.

Tiger Stadium continues to expand with newer seats/areas, but the general rank and file fan continues to get the same outdated and inadequate bathroom facilities that have plagued the stadium for decades. Many of the restrooms are too small and do not handle the normal large traffic flows associated with a sold out crowd.

This idea has floated around on this board at least a dozen times. It would be really cool to see.
