USGA, R&A adopt rule 14-1b anchor ban

Rule 14-1b

Let players use any putter they want.

So they dont outlaw the club, but they can not be anchored?

frick. Hey, USGA why don't you let the driver hit the golf ball 500 yards but ban something that has no statistical evidence of making the game easier

I agree with the ban, you should not be able to anchor a club to your body.

Not a fan of the ban - anchored putters have not hurt the game's popularity.

Different types of putters = more $$ making opportunities for club designers, and more options for players.

Money and choices are good things for golf.

I'm very happy about this. I started a thread a year or so ago about this subject. I walked on at LSU Golf course one day and played with two younsters(high school age) who both were using anchored strokes,I asked them why, they both said an instructer taught them to use it and it was easier........ The future now looks much brighter for me and my ilk...............
