I am at work but if anyone has the time this link appears to have a detailed write up on LA invasive species.

There have been piranhas caught in the basin on occasion, but the frequency doesn't imply an invasion.

Tilapia are finding their way into more waters around the state.

No doubt they are a pest, but are they non-native?

I think they live in every climate in the states now.

We've always had them. They just have exploded with removal of all the apex predators, and survive well in human altered environments, like crows.

How about those tan geckos that come out at night. I never saw them as a kid and they are all over now...

good one..

started in south florida and have been growing outward ever since.....

I never saw one till early 80s.. in Nola....

apparently they are more pesticide resistant than other reptiles/amphibians...

A private one, not government sanctioned.

a doctor in metairie used to have 6 used to feed them a few times..... then I think he got divorced and USFWs showed up and killed em and confiscated them.

people living near him thought he let them go in w. esplanade canals.... when the pacu explosion happened.

I also remember a guy living near bayou st john in Nola that got is a heap big trouble for having some..

Yep.

I was fishing on Mandalay refuge the other day and I noticed all the tallow trees had something painted on them. Willows and other trees didn't have them. Anybody know what's up?
