Anyone else think it is cool that owls run the show at night?

So during the day there are birds everywhere doing the things that birds do. Almost all species flying around, calling, shitting on cars, etc.

But at night there is pretty much only the owl. I was camping recently and while freezing my toes off in the tent I couldn't help but be reminded how after the sun goes down the owl is almost the only bird that is active. They basically have 1/2 of each day to themselves to run nature.

Just an observation on a Sunday evening...

I love how they don't give a damn about people.

Or cars.

They've almost caused me to shite my britches several times while walking through the woods in the dark.

I almost crapped myself one night in the woods looking for a deer, apparently I got a little too close to a screech owl during my search. I thought a Sasquatch was about to eat me and that was his war cry.

Yep. I love to hear some owls get cranked up and start talking to each other.

Owls are in my book.

I love the hooties, but those fricking screechies love to get right next to my damn tent in the woods and make that raped banshee scream at 2-fricking am.

Same thing every time...my heart stops as I levitate a foot off the ground. Then I awake in mid air and realize exactly what it is before I even fall back down to the ground...grunt, roll over muttering "mutherfricker" under my breath.

The only time i like them is when they make a turkey gobble
I cannot like an animal that will make me shite my pants when it screams close by

I have two of these in my front yard almost every other night:

Barred Owls. I love sitting outside and listening to them. And no they don't give a damn about me or anyone else outside. I almost wish I could build them a house and feed them.

ETA, a screech from an owl or owls at night when you are not expecting it......scares the $hit out of me.
