Dwight Howard
there isn't a professional athlete in the entire world that is more deserving of a career ending injury than this piece of shite. please dear Lord let it happen.

Michael Vick deserves one even more. But I will concede Dwight being the second most deserving but Vick is deserves to have a career ending injury the most by a large margin.

Why are teams interested in him? All Dwight Howard really does is get injured.
Posted on 5/20/13 at 6:51 am to TheGreatInquisition
Teams are interested because he's still young enough to have 7 great years if he's motivated.
I don't know how you decide if he's motivated or not just from talking to him, but i absolutely appreciate the Houston front office for getting the team back into contention if it happens.
A core of Parsons/Lin/Harden/Howard puts them in good shape against anyone in the NBA in 2 years. All based on Howard being motivated which is impossible to know

Welcome, you're gonna love it. My first suggestion would be to brush up on the "history" of the NBA, pre-2012.

Na. In that case I'd take Rick > Dwight

Dwight Howard to me is not a franchise piece.
I am not saying that he is not good, but people are over valuing him.
Howard turns it over way too much in the low post, is extremely limited offensively, and is an offensive liability at the end of games due to his free throw shooting.
He is also not a leader, he is proving to be a bad teammate, and a bit of a locker room cancer.
Very few players are capable of lifting a franchise to championship levels and I do not know that Howard is one.
The Orlando team was a very talented team as a whole in an Eastern Conference that was very weak. That team had three all-stars and almost a fourth. They had good depth and they were made to play inside out with the three point shooters on that team. Howard's primary role on that team was to punish people if he got deep post position and as an eraser on defense. I am a life long Magic fan and it annoys me that people act as if Dwight single handily lifted that Orlando team to title series. People forget that when Dwight was injured or suspended that Gortat filled in and the Magic did not miss a beat.
I can go on for days on this subject. There were a lot of bad trades made, but people ignore that fact that Dwight forced the issue with some of those deals (Arenas was his buddy that he had faith in, asking for Turk to come back, etc. etc.)
Also the firing of Van Gundy whose only crime was trying to coach Howard.
I'm not saying Dwight is not good or doesn't put up numbers, he reminds me a lot of Chris Webber who was a life long 20/10 guy, but never when it mattered most.
Lastly, people swear by how injured he was. Are these the same injuries that prevented him from flying from L.A. to Orlando to attend "His" camp, but were okay enough to fly out to China a week later after he was traded? Maybe its the injuries that were going to take him until after February to be ready to go, but he was ready for pre-season once he got traded? I have no idea just how "hurt" he really is, and I do not think anyone does. However, lets say he is not the same, do you really want to build a franchise around a player with a bad back, a player who relies completely on his athleticism?

I really don't think for a second he is intending to play for anyone else but the Lakers.
I don't think this comes out if that's true. LA is going to offer him as much money as they are allowed to give him, what more could he get out of the Lakers? He either truly has interest in Dallas/Houston, or he wants LA to believe he does so they'll start looking for S&Ts he'll take like sending him to New Jersey.

Let's not be too biased lifelong Magic fan.

dwight is still a really big risk, imho
injuries + attitude problems in big men are 2 major red flags. if he's not howard of that 2010/2011 range he'll kill your franchise for 5 years. 3 years ago it wouldn't have been a question...but now? it's messy

If you're Houston or Dallas, I simply can't see another viable option right now with the information we have today that would give you a better shot at winning over the next 5 years.

Let me ask you this, how many franchise pieces are there in the NBA?
I say 3
1. Kevin Durant
2. Lebron James
3. Chris Paul
that is just my opinion, but thats the point, is this the guy you want to build your franchise around to lead you for the next 5-7 years?
I think teams need to be wiser about throwing out max money and handcuffing your team for years to come (see my Orlando Magic)

Well that makes my point. yes he did have surgery and I am sure that he played injured, but how injured is he/was he?
If he could make it back for the Lakers why not the Magic? If he could fly to China then why not Orlando?
Also the injury he played through is the same one he was going to sit for until Kobe basically called him a bitch.
I'm not being biased, I am looking forward to the future of my team, i'm not simply bash Howard, rather i'm just contributing my opinion to the conversation. I want to see teams, all teams become smarter and more frugal.
Think about some of the truly horrible contracts given out to guys who were never going to be worth it.
