KR ran off when we started talking about playing. More folks showed up after he left. Doubles kicked my arse. I'll be dire tomorrow.

We have done it around the darlington area of the amite. Water level is fine year round up there. May be a few times you have to get out and push, but not for long. It's all sand and gravel up there, so no big deal anyway. Bunch of bridges to pick up and drop off from. And lots of big sand bars to camp on.

I would avoid going after a rain, the water can really get moving. Probably more fun for actual canoeing, but not as good for relaxing and fishing.

Yeah. These guys were floating from hwy 10 to 37. Came past my camp. Thought it might be OB yackers since there was a thread about yacking that part of the river a while back.

Yeah, it's a blast. We use snoopy rods for canoe trips. They are perfect, cheap enough not to care and small enough not to get in the way in the canoe.

The spotted bass are so much fun to catch, they fight like hell on those small rods in the current. Supposedly there are a bunch of catfish in there, but I've not caught any.

You can put in at the canal at the front of White Oak Landing and hit the amite And go south. Fred's is a good distance. I plan to do it this summer. Have done 3/4 of the trip before by putting in off of hoo shoo too into claycut bayou and paddling past Fred's

Put in at claycut bayou. I think it was off of hoo shoo too or tigerbend. Can't remember for sure what street it was. Can't remember how far the paddle was. Between 12-14 miles if I had to guess.

Have also launched about a mile south of Fred's and paddled up stream about 8 miles and them came back down.

If you follow claycut bayou on google maps, you can see a massive mansion looking house. Didn't expect to see that as we paddle along that narrow rural bayou.

That's still some pretty crappy water.

North of Denham is the place to go. Water is much nicer. More of a clean sand bottom less mud. Plenty of sand bars to relax on.

TuVA and i have been wanting to making this trip. We live north walker. Amite is maybe 15 minutes. I have a friend who has a camp near clinton. The water is high enough to paddle and very scenic.
Heard the red eyes are fun as hell too

Buddy and I camped out on sandbar last year with the kids just before Claycut bayou. That stretch has some big logs, but we ran a good ways north of Claycut that appeared pretty clean. Banging bandits off logs, smoked the spots. I'd like to go on that trip.

I want to float from the state line. Someone needs to go do it and chronicle it here.

You could put in at 431(I think thats the hwy) and float down to the Hwy 10 bridge by Greensburg.
