My favorites are after he got out of jail and kicked...

The trifecta of the ones below are my favorite..

Train a Comin'
I Feel Alright
El Corazon

You know, I was thinking of starting a similar thread about Ted Leo, but felt i would be disappointed by lack of input...

I friggin' LOVE Ted Leo. Same with Steve Earle, who is a guy so ballsy, he wrote a song from John Walker Lindh's point of view. That is a songwriter who will go anywhere.

The picking is in my head right now. I'll be singing it at teeball practice while trying not to lose it with a few certain 5 year olds.

Steve Earle is pretty polarizing IMO. His views arent' necessarily the most popular so goes his music with a lot of people.

I like him. El Corazon and Transcendental Blues are the only ones I listened to regularly when they came out. Telephone Road is the greatest song pertaining to Houston, TX.

Steve does not play by the rules set by Nashvegas, therefore he does not get played on country radio. You will not hear syrupy-sweet lyrics that's all about sunshine and rainbows. What you get is the fetid under-belly of the beast that lies within all of us. Plus, he tells a damn good story as in CHR and Devil's Right Hand.

When it comes to telling a story through song he is definitely one of the best. But plenty of non mainstream country/Americana bands get tons of love around here.

I don't understand why Steve doesn't.

Indeed. Although I think Steve Earle is a better listen than Springsteen. Not a Springsteen fan in the slightest.

You can hear a lot of Steve Earle in Chris Knight which is why I love him so much.

It's interesting, Earle used to teach a songwriting class and would tell you everything is just a rip off of Springsteen... but that was ok...

believe what he says or not, doesnt matter... he is an interesting guy, but his politics are very polarizing...

One for TVZ Ft. Worth Blues
