What a bummer. He was one of my home state sports heroes. When he signed this for me at Slinger Speedway he said "Here you go young man" and I was happy because I was 30 something at the time.

Damn. He had the best name in Nascar. It didn't matter if he was in first, middle of the pack or dead last; the announcers always found a way to mention his name during the race.
