That was a personal beer?

Yeah, that was at home, the last of the last TX haul.

I dunno about The Cove being underrated. Most individuals I know who have knowledge of craft beer say it's the 2nd best if not the #1 craft beer bar in the southeast. Maybe there's a bar in Atlanta that's better but Cove + Ave Pub .. those two are the tops from what I hear.

I mean underrated from the fact that the bulldog will cram 4x as many people in there bar on any given night. It's never consistently busy there and that place deserves to have a steady crowd.

Separately, pains me to say because I try to support regional beers as much as I can .. but Timber Beast (4th time having it) just doesn't do it for me. Too much of a bitter taste and that paired with the high ABV and little else to speak of flavor profile wise, I just don't enjoy this beer very much.

Have you had it on tap yet? Everyone told me it was much better on tap. I wasn't really buying that until I actually had it on tap. And they were right, it IS much better on tap. That bitterness isn't nearly as sharp, and it's much easier to drink.

I have mixed feelings about the Cove, not a great place to hang out IMO, but I still think they have better stuff on draft than Pelican House. As far as bottles, Cove is just interested in having the most. Which means most of that is fairly old, because they dont have enough turnover.

I'd agree with this. I hate how their taps are set up. It's miserable trying to figure out what they have since they're spread out all over.

Cove does with bottles what Pelican House is doing with taps. They just want to have the most.

Would really like to see Pelican House upgrade their offerings. They are definitely doing "less with more". I guess it looks worse than it is because of all the summer seasonals, since most summer seasonals suck.

There are definitely some gems in their draft list, but they are kinda hard to find. They really need a big board that lists their rotators and featured beers. And they need better rotators. How do they not have Timber Beast on tap?

I went to the Pelican House last night. I walked away impressed with the place. Although I was disappointed in the portions of the food relative to what you pay. It's freakin bar food.

Turbo Dog Buffalo Trace is absolutely delicious! Turbo Dog was already my favorite abita brew but aging it in whiskey barrels is friggin genius! 10 out of 10

Chafunkta Old 504 how this young married couple managed to make such a tasty (coffee) porter out of the gates like this... is impressive. the imperial IPA is delicious also. they only have 2 brews so far for Chafunkta brewing but they're both outstanding. I expect good things in the future.

heading to the abita brew pub to get a growler of vanilla double dog after work
