The government is the only entity allowed to lie and get away with it. Every good statist knows this.

People like Vols, Broke and Russian don't care if governments lie. But they absolutely hate it when free people voluntarily transact without negotiating the bureaucracy first. DAMN THOSE CRIMINALS!

So then go on record: Do you think that what MtGox has been accused of according to this link should be a crime?

If so, what should be the penalties?

Why do people always have to go on record with you? This is the weirdest thing.

But my answer is yes. I think anybody transacting exchange business needs to be watched like a fricking hawk. Look how many brokers get popped for stealing client money and we are watched like a hawk.

For the exact reason that politicians avoid it.

Should people be able to run bitcoin based stock markets that are completely unregulated? e.g. LINK /

It's a trading site where you buy and sell interests in bitcoin based companies. For instance, the aforementioned ASICMINER is probably one of the most popular companies being traded right now. They pay weekly dividends on their earnings (via mining operations and in selling mining hardware).

Apparently to him there is no distinction between solid regulation and outright lies and manipulation. They are not mutually exclusive.

Nah, it's just that I don't understand how people support an organization that routinely lies, cheats, and steals when they attempt to prosecute people that may have lied, cheated, or stolen.

I pretty much hate all politicians. So I get what you are saying. I would wipe the slate clean and put in some good ole fashioned people. But they too are corruptable to some extent.

Broke handled this one for me. And I 100% agree. And I'm not a judge, so I don't determine the penalties. ON THE MOTHER frickING RECORD BITCH

FWIW, I almost intentionally typed "stealed" in my previous post just so I could pull LSURussian out of hiding and get him to go all grammar nazi on me.

Bitcoin is not ready for prime time yet. 2019 will be a different story, but right now, no.

So, what is the next step for BTC? In the past you thought that it would take some hits like this but in the end be beyond the reach of governments.

How does it make the transformation to untouchable?

If they set up an account with a dirty fiat US Bank, and they are asked:

“Do you deal in or exchange currency for your customer?”

and

“Does your business accept funds from customers and send the funds based on customers’ instructions (Money Transmitter)?”

They probably shouldn't try to deceive the institution on a notarized legal document like Magic the Gathering did

GFY a-hole. I don't tolerate liars. It's the main reason I can't tolerate you.
