Sad to see him go, one of the best in the current cast.

With just one departure, “Saturday Night Live” is losing its excitable “Weekend Update” city correspondent, Stefon; its frenetic incarnations of James Carville, Al Pacino, Vincent Price and Julian Assange; and any number of unctuous, self-satisfied game-show hosts.
All of which is to say that Bill Hader, an eight-year veteran of “Saturday Night Live,” will be leaving that NBC late-night franchise when its season ends Saturday.
“It was a hard decision, but it has to happen at some point,” Mr. Hader said in an interview. “It got to a point where I said, ‘Maybe it’s just time to go.’ ”
Sad to see him go, one of the best in the current cast.

Funniest man in the history of SNL

I haven't watched in years, and I don't mean for this to sound snide, but does this show still need to be on? I can't imagine people still tune in for this, but I could be wrong.
SNL doesn't even register in my mind anymore.

He's hilarious but I can't really see him as a leading star in movies

one of my favorite actors

He'll probably do a lot more writing.

It is watched and discussed in my circle of friends and always has been, even when its not very good. Its ingrained in the culture and always will be i suspect. the younger generation is watching it.
Hader is one of the best ever on there I agree, very funny guy
I am just glad somebody finally took down that douche Keith Morrison

We have it scheduled to record on the DVR. Never miss an episode, but it may take a couple weeks for us to sit down and watch it.

I really like Bill Hader, but I don't get the Stefon character. I just don't find the character funny at all.

I find the character a little funny, but don't get all the love. He plays a GREAT James Carville though.

I went to NYC a few months back. Ran into a few "Stefon" on the street, just hearing conversations, etc. I get where the stereotype/character came from.

So much for the predictions of him taking over the Weekend Update bit.

I find it to be pretty terrible most of the time myself.
Seems like a lot of the skits never go anywhere and awkwardly end like a high school news cast. Its weird.
Every now and then there is something. My GF keeps watching it so I try to not let the majority shite parts cloud the real funny stuff.

i don't think Fred will do it, so it may fall to taran or cecily. or a duo.

yeah, he is easily the best on the show right now. As bad as this cast has been, I think it'll get worse.
*Then in 10+ years we will look back on it fondly like every other disliked cast.
ETA - except for the mid 80's cast. If you see a flying hot dog in the intro or the name Joe Piscapo, change it.

I hate that Hader is leaving. His versatility and skill set will be hard to replace.
