i need a new one, and i'm more than likely gonna go with a Boga, probably gonna get the 15# and 30#..

I bought a econo grip last week and after a weekend of fishing discovered it is around one pound off, i got a 2 digital and they work great but want a new pinch spring scale

What does tOB recommend?

Haven't regretted my 15# Boga purchase at all. Just make sure to get the float attachment.

I don't need a scale, I know how big a fish is when I hoist it.

If it gains a few pounds afterwards . . .

it's way more accurate than any of the others. Has a very smooth action and I keep it in the back compartment of my boat that isn't really air tight and never have any problems with corrosion.
It's one of my favorite fishing devices, seriously.

Got mine new on Ebay with the float for like $110

I have the 25lb rapala version of the boga grip. It cost $70 and is right on the money. Guarenteed to within 3% within the first year and you can have it officially tested/certified to weigh fish for IGFA, etc...

I use it most often to help handle bigger fish. Once it is locked onto a fishes lip, it isn't going anywhere. I have a digital scale if I absolutely want to know down to the decimal place what the weight is, but more often than not just stick with the rapala.

this is important, as i am currently trying to wrangle the Va state HSB record

and that's the thing, the 30# has half pound increments.. and i'm definitely gonna need the 15# for accuracy

probably just use the digitals for catfish and larger fish

Boga says they are the only ones who can get their scales certified.

We use Zebco De-Liars that Grandpaw used. Since we aren't in that tournament foolishness, they suit our purposes just fine.

Rapala Lock 'n Weigh - 60lb version

Click the link above. They claim their scale is:

I have the 20lb version. It has 1/4lb increments I think. I'll check tonight and edit if I'm wrong.

I'm not doubting you, just telling him what it says on Boga website.

Edit-IGFA will certify damn near any scale just as long as it's accurate for $30.

That's good to know. And yeah I knew you weren't calling me out, I just thought some documentation would help. I have never had mine certified, but have gotten into some large sac-au-lait lately and am thinking about it.

We bought my dad a 30# Boga for Christmas and it's awesome. Great for pullin big reds out the water, and it will save your wrists if you get a stubborn fish.
