Is there a reason why the bullpens arent nicer than what they are? It seems odd that they would build this top of the line stadium and still put bullpens on the sides where you have to have someone basically guarding the catchers to make aure they arent hit. It also makes for a dangerous play for the outfielders when running full speed towards a foul ball.

Obviously its a random question but always wonder about it when I see a game televised.

I think they wanted to some of the same features as the ol Box. And it's probably cheaper

It's old school baseball. Wrigley Field has bullpens on the field. If they moved the bullpens farther away from the foul lines, then the fans would be pushed farther away. Put the bullpens behind the outfield fence, and you lose seating for the fans. Bullpens on the field are fan friendly.

Because is a classic feature of baseball

I LOVE the onfield bullpens

Gives the crowd a chance to always see whos warming up and theyre able to heckle

I dont like the pullpens that are hidden behind the wall where the pitchers dont get to stay with the team during the game

Love the onfield bullpens. As others have said does not take away from seating, and I think on the field pens are just baseball. It also saves money and is a great teaching moment for little kids at baseball games.

Personally Id rather a park alot nicer thab wrigley field but thats just me. As far as Alex Box theres no reason you couldnt put the bullpens behind the outfield wall and have the stands start above it. Just makes for a cleaner appearance imo.

Adds to the experience for the fans, adds better seating and of course the opposing pen gets the abuse.

I always wondered why they never took the opportunity to add more billboards on a real bullpen's fences?

Well with the amount of billboards they have now, Im surprised it isnt in the works to add a bullpen just to fit more signs. LSU definitely loves billboards.

Hawthorne has a hard enough time now with where/how it's located. Move it anywhere else & he'll be completely lost.
