From dros Original post lightning didnt strike until 45 min after tarp coverage

Lightning....that's the Aggies code name for Nola. "We're halting this game due to lightning"
Posted on 5/11/13 at 10:17 am to Ignignot
TAMU had to make sure Nola wouldn't come back after he started mowing them down again when they changed the signals.

Because shutting down an hour early pretty much gives a 90 minute delay and minimum and ends Nola's night. Same reason this remained a 9 inning game at any cost to complete and game 3 has been limited to 7.

The decision to stop play is not made by the home team. We can blame the umps on this one, as usual.

They dropped the ball it seems like

Where do you suppose the umpires got their weather information?

The National Weather Service

OR
the local news affiliate :)

I must have missed them watching their TV, logging into their computer, or using their cell phone.

you guys can run conspiracy theory all you want, but that storm came through here in Travis County like a freight train. Insane downpour with a ton of lightning. They called the game about 45 minutes after it passed over my house. Which is about right in line with when the front would be close to CS. Granted, it may not have panned out to be a monster storm in the end, but if they were going off of weather reports from just an hour due west of them, I can clearly understand why they called the game

It gave everyone ample time to seek shelter. It was a responsible thing to do.
