I agree with using a chimney. It doesn't replace the charcoal tray in the pit. The chimney is used simply for lighting the charcoal briquets and getting them burning. Speeds up the process and eliminates the use of lighter fluid. Once the charcoal is burning, you empty the charcoal into the pit and get your cook on. It all just takes a little practice. Good luck.

Get a chimney. The small price is worth it to never have to run to the store just to get lighter fluid again. All you need is a lighter and wadded up newspaper, paper towel, or even a cardboard beer box.
