Tyreke Evans...thoughts

I'm doing this is an all things Tyreke Evans thread.
He will be an RFA. All estimates I have seen have him getting somewhere in the 4/40 range or more (not the lower amounts that some on here have speculated).
He will probably stay at PG/Combo Guard, not a full time SG or SF as some have conjectured.
So...would you want Tyreke on this team at that price? Would you want him at PG if say we drafted a Bennett type player?
Discuss.
If you do (or don't), try to construct a team around getting Tyreke this offseason.

With the kind of money he'll command, he doesn't have a place on the Hornets.
I'd rather spend that kind of money on a SF or pay more and get Pekovic to play center.

I agree, especially at that price. But he seems to be a popular target among some around here, so thought I would bring it up.

I couldn't imagine paying that kind of money for him. If you shut him off in transition, you've completely eliminated him as a threat.

Do not want, especially for that price.

I can't either. I thought he would be had for cheap, especially in the new CBA where the Middle Class of FAs is essentially gone. But that's what everyone seems to say...4 years 40 mill. Crazy.

If it was something like 4/32 i'd be ok
He hasn't improved much in the last few years. He was so legit in his rookie year and he hasn't shown any of that recently. Part of it is coaching(let's face it SAC blows.
He has all of the physical tools to be a really good player in this league.

I'd pass mainly for the money he will command, but also because it seems he reached his ceiling his rookie year.

If you're moving Gordon to get him, I'm fine w/ $10mil/year. Their numbers arent that different at all.
Gordon for Evans and Outlaw
Evans needs a g that can shoot off ball. Get JJ Reddick as a FA pick up. Hell, you could still go after Bledsoe if you really want a true pg.
Lopez/Vasquez for Bledsoe/Butler
Draft Porter or Shabazz
Bledsoe/Rivers
Evans/Reddick/Rivers
Ottobazz/Butler/Outlaw/Miller
Davis/Anderson
Mozgov/Smiht

Are we already starting the tank for Wiggins?

Ugh.
I don't like paying Evans $10m given his uneven performance the last few seasons, nor do I like Mozgov, who played like shite last year for Denver.
I also don't think we'll get Bledsoe and Butler for Lopez and Vasquez.

Moving a talented guy that doesn't play and everyone here hates for a talented guy that everyone hates but does play is considered tanking?

These guys have put up comparable numbers over their NBA careers. Gordon is a better scorer, but Evans does more.

I do not like that roster at all.

Evans isnt my favorite player, but I like the idea of a Evans/Gordon swap... You'll save some change because more than likely Evans wont require a max deal, and hes a big guard who can play 3 spots on the floor
He averages 17/5/5 through 3 years as a pro... Not far off from the Eric Gordon potential we keep hearing about
but like teke said, Im not down with signing him without moving Gordon... Id rather use that money on a SF or C

That's fair. Although Evans has really only had one bad season- his 2nd year when he couldn't buy a bucket.
Not calling for an Evans move to be the plan at all. Just playing along with the OP
It's not the best offer, but they save plenty of money- especially if they buy Lopez out. Butler is done. He's just living off his well earned rep at this point.

Just curious- would it make a difference if Gordon were there instead of Evans?
Bledsoe/Rivers
Gordon/Reddick/Rivers
Ottobazz/Outlaw/Miller
Davis/Anderson
(Not big money C)/Smiht

Not much better.
I still don't like the idea of Shabazz, Outlaw, or having a cheap center not named Lopez. Even if you replaced Outlaw with Butler, it's still not great.
Flipping Lopez is only acceptable, IMHO, if we've got a better center somewhere because he's decent enough for what he's paid. Getting a Mozgov or some other stiff like Aaron Grey is a bigger dropoff from Lopez than the difference in talent between Bledsoe and Vasquez.

Evans/Cousins are somewhat of an unknown. The 2 have been part of a dysfunctional franchise their entire careers. I get the feeling they could thrive in the right place, but who knows. Their problems are all mental, so I'd have to trust Monty/Dell.

I can agree with that.
You might have posted this before in another, but what's your ideal* summer?
edit- ideal and at least somewhat realistic
