I would disagree with this somewhat. It has some characteristics of high fantasy - magic (somewhat), dragons - but the focus is on the people and their political machinations. Plus it doesn't have elves, or dwarves, or a true good v evil plot, which are all characteristics of high fantasy.

"Epic fantasy" works, I guess, if anything more than fantasy is required to characterize it.

But what the hell kinda question is "Is GoT considered Science Fiction?" No. arse. Literally nothing in the books or the show is based on science. Come on, OP.

It's somewhat of an R rated Lord of the Rings type genre only less of an adventure and more political intrigue intertwined among a large collage characters.

It's fantasy but amazon has them in high fantasy and epic
