I imagine you haven't read the Koran. It is extremely similar to the Bible.

You REALLY think that the concepts which form the basis of religion, has anything to do with the people that practice it?

They don't? Because if that's the case, then what's the point of the religion?

If I really thought that conceptual 'faith' was an "open proposition" for you...I'd go on a rant and lay out the PHILOSOPHICAL bases which make Christianity existentially....PERFECT. Jesus wasn't just whistling Dixie when he said "no man cometh to the Father but by me".

Unlike political Christians and their wars on Islam (and Judaism and Paganism and anything not-Christian). It's amazing how roundly some of the Christian conservatives on this board criticize Islam while ignoring their own religion's history.

#1 I'm not a Christian Conservative. Haven't been to Church, other than my dad's death, since I was 17.

#2 Apparently you've not watched the video at all or where he scientifically breaks down the number of attacks of Islam vs. Christians on a map thru the ages. Explaining the part where he addresses The Crusades is kind of stunning visually on a map vs. what political Islam did to Christianity.

#3 My point in posting this video is that they are at war with us, even if we aren't Christian Conservative and large number of us are in denial to it.

But keep telling yourself that Christians are just as much the problem. I don't get why the West is in hiding about Sharia and how far radical Islam reaches.

christian leaders condoning rape of non christian women. or something similar. I say "leaders" because it has happened repeatedly recently. And then, of course, after you find the equally morally depraved statements (including scriptural support for the statements), I'll see If I can find other Christian leaders expressing condemnation of whatever you found. That's really the test, isn't it? A muslim or Christian leader can say or do anything, it's the reaction (or lack of) of the others in the faith that speaks the loudest.

His analysis isn't just of one age. It's scientific mapping of the 548 battles up to Modern Age.

if he would run his map back 900 years, you would see the same pattern reversed through the height of Greek and Roman empire building.

he makes zero attempt at discussing political implications, only broad generalizations of Islam vs Christianity, like the difference in religion is the only thing that drives history, not politics and economics. if arabia had been united under puppy love, i dont think their territorial expansion would have been any less significant. arabic unification under islam came about at the right time, in the right place, at the precise moment in history that allowed them to gain hegemony. anytime before or after the 600s.

he clearly states his interest in all this came about due to 9/11, so hes working within an agenda, admits hes not a historian, and his "scientific data" is nothing more than a map that shows battle dots over a thousand year period.

Mmmmhuh...for you. Calculus would be "gobbledygook" to a first grader; that don't make it untrue.

I'll be you don't even know the critical context of my quote "open proposition". But that's what they make Goggle for...just in case.

Good luck.

Heck, G...the more extreme the contrast, the brighter it's opposite. Enjoy life; and if it's limited...it's all the more valuable and special.

What's this "they vs us" nonsense? Your language is more divisive than most American Muslims. What side are they on?

How do you figure that? The Koran has Adam, Noah, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Aaron, Job, David, Solomon, Elijah, Elisha, Jonah, John the Baptist and of course Jesus. I don't know your religious background but if you're a Christian or a Jew these names should be extremely familiar to you.

Critics who are far more intelligent than you (Christopher Hitchens for example) claim that Islam is false because the Koran is so similar to the Bible that the plagiarism is too obvious to ignore. Some stores are different (for example, Job complains about his trials more in the Koran than the Bible version) and yes the Koran obviously adds Mohammed but the rest is quite similar.

ETA: Just in case you think I have some hidden bias, I am Christian. Saying the Koran is similar to the Bible in no way diminishes the Bible's message or authenticity.

re: Islam- A Political History Thru The Ages From Dr Bill Warner

Lets start with Jewish law: A prophet must be correct 100% of the time. The penalty for being a false prophet is to be taken outside the gates of the city and stoned to death.

Lets look at Christianity and Jesus' sayings. Jesus said he was the Truth, the Light and the Way. No one comes to the Father except thru Him.

So, Jesus must be correct or be a false prophet, which requires to be taken out of the city and stoned to death.

Now here comes mohammed: Jesus was a Great Prophet but I am the Last Prophet.

Either Jesus was the Son of God and the Messiah or He was a Liar. Either way mohammed MUST be wrong. Jesus must be considered the Son of God or a Liar.... A great prophet is not an option.

I hear where you're coming from and I'm aware of the differences. The point of my post that you took exception to was about the Koran being similar to the Bible. I was trying to point out that just about any major story from the Bible (especially the Old Testament but even some in the New Testament) is also found in the Koran and is typically very similar.

I was in no way questioning Christ's role or claiming the Koran was inspired by God. Just that these two texts are closer than many Americans realize or would care to admit.

And I might want to tweak this part a bit:

quote:

Lets start with Jewish law: A prophet must be correct 100% of the time. The penalty for being a false prophet is to be taken outside the gates of the city and stoned to death.

Deut 18:22 "When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him."

The death penalty is mentioned a few verses earlier about prophesying something that was not commanded or prophesying in the name of other gods.

Deut 18

Now TC...that is the kind of sound deductive reasoning that will get you and INCREASE in you life insurance premium.

You are spot on dude. That's why those of us in the know...know Islam ain't going away...unless Christianity does first.

But with the Secularists, Socialists and Islamists all doing the 'enemy of my enemy is my friend' dance...I'll go with prophecy. There will be a falling away. And then a fall off the cliff. And then...trout leapin all over the surf!

Good job!
