until anything happens to the contrary, I'm inclined to believe that this simply means that Slive told the ADs to agree to it.

I don't even think this is Alleva's fault really, but its time someone in one of these programs starts looking out for their own institution's best interest and quits just towing the party line. Quit being a bitch and actually vote against something if its not good for your program.

ESPN had basketball rights and LSU was still able to stream non conference games. Hopefully there are still a bunch of details to be worked out and they can get something done. They may just want to take everything off the table so they have negotiating power with the providers...and once ESPN has been paid they can start to work on stuff like this.

Shoot...no more LSU gymnnastics meets being broadcast? I sure hope not. That would suck. Hard enough to follow college gymnastics anyway.

I'm hoping they either do regional coverage or they put all baseball games on Espn3... So it's basically geauxzone for free and works with an Xbox

in the end...this network is great for LSU. Just because you lose out on watching a few baseball games doesn't mean this network is bad for the institution. Have a little fricking perspective

I don't even think LSU will be able to put weekend series on CST like they do now. All of that regional coverage got given up to SECN too.
they will be no cst ,cst already announced they are ending their broadcasting....the sec network will be a good thing.

So it's just about LSU making money and I am supposed to be happy for them? Screw that! More and more and more it is about them screwing over the fans so they can make a little more money. Geaux Zone sucked because the streaming was terrible at times and other times we had to watch those replays while the game was still going on. But it was the ONLY WAY for someone who lived outside of an SEC state to see most of the basketball games and to see the football games against minor opponents. I'm not a baseball fan but I feel for them. And it really was great that I could watch a game as many times as I wanted and I had the choice of highlights, shortened game or full game. Do you think SEC tv is going to give me any of that let alone anywhere the number of games I saw this last year? Once again SCREW THEM!

Does anyone really think that schools will no longer be able to stream any audio or certain video on their own website? Just because the rights to this stuff are being handled by someone else doesn't mean it's going to go away.

SECN requires every school to give up 3rd tier rights. This will be good for the conference, and probably not so great for anyone who is a "die hard" fan of a non-revenue sport.

Each school gives up their 3rd tier rights, but what about the financial compensation? ESPN controls all digital media, but couldn't they offer digital packages to each school's fanbase? If the answer is no, then the SEC has become the anti-big 12. We already shared the tier 1 and tier 2 revenue equally, but now Vandy, Ole Miss and Miss State would get the same revenue from broadcast rights as Florida. Wow. I realize that stadium revenue and university license revenue would still belong to each school, but this is a bonanza for the smaller schools.

No SEC games in any sport will be able to be seen by fans unless ESPN is covering it direct. No more Tiger Vision, nothing. The general consensus is that this deal is good for the conference as a whole, with the individual schools getting a huge piece of the pie, but bottom line for the fans is that local coverage of local teams will no longer exist in any form. Using this wkend's series with the gators: all 3 games now being shown. That will never happen again unless ESPN shows them all, and that would leave the rest of the league off the tube that wkend. Aleva commented on 104.5 yesterday that all schools had to make sacrifices for the good of the conference. Without being specific, this is an example of what he meant for LSU baseball fans in particular.

So there is no "school specific" coverage, not even digitally? That means tier 3 has been eliminated in the SEC. Definitely bad for the fans, but I guess good for the schools. All of this, so that I can now watch a UGA vs Missouri women's volleyball match!
