I think 34-31 LSU

would have been a shootout in my opinion. Shaun King shreds LSU's secondary, but Faulk and Mealey run wild in a nailbiter.

our offense was still really really good and Tulane played no one with a pulse that year

LSU

The people (mostly everyone in Louisiana outside of most LSU fans) that think otherwise are dumb.

It would have been close, but LSU would have came out in the end.

Depends on when it was played. Before Mid October, LSU. After, Tulane

Should be tons of unbiased opinions in this one.

I think it would have been a decent game. But LSU would have won.

I am no Tulane fan, but they would have beaten LSU that year by a touchdown at least.

They played no one, but they were good. LSU's defense that year couldn't have slowed down Jesuit much less Shaun King.

Tulane- The Green Wave didn't beat anybody that year, but Lou Tepper was a nobody.

Better yet, who wins in '82?

4-7-0 Tulane or 8-2-1 LSU?

It would've been close, but I think LSU would've found a way to lose that game in the 4th quarter just like every other game they lost that year.

Shaun King would throw for 600 yards.

Everything was clicking for Tulane that year, nothing was clicking for us. Thank God we didn't play them.

98 Tulane would have beaten 98 LSU, and I don't think it would have been close. I saw that team play in the dome that year and they beat the hell out of a Louisiana Tech team that set multiple NCAA records and had a future NFL QB, Tim Rattay. Tulane had a really good team that year and LSU didn't. It's the only year since 82 that they could have stayed on the same field with the Tigers.

We beat one decent team: SEC West Champion Miss State

We lost to UGA, Florida, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Bama, ND and Arkansas, all were close battles and could have gone either way (except Arky). All the teams above went to bowl games.

Tulane went undefeated but did not play one ranked team, and the only bowl eligible team they beat was the one they played in the Liberty (BYU).

LSU 38
Tulane 37 F/OT

(Superdome)

Tulane 31
LSU 42 F

(Tiger Stadium)

I have always wondered about that. Tiger defense couldn't stop anyone after the Auburn win for some reason. Oh yea, Tepper defense. I think LSU 52-50 or something.

A site called whatifsports allows you to pick 2 teams from the past and it simulates what the outcome would be.

Just to see what they thought, I did it 10 times, all with Lsu as the home team and the results were: Tulane 38-23, Tulane 17-7, Tulane 42-26, Tulane 55-14, Tulane 28-2, Tulane 44-30, Lsu 34-28, Tulane 24-21, Lsu 30-23, Tulane 21-11.

And I'll add, 1998 LSU was probably one of the most dangerous 4-win teams in history.
