I've never caught bream pre-spawn, but I might try to find some this weekend. How deep are they right now? And if they are deep, how do you catch them when they are deep?

I don't know where you are but around Shreveport they are shallow bout 2 ft to three and hitting strong right now.

Shallow.

After the spawn, I catch them from 9 to 15. The deeper I go, the more likely I will catch chinqs.

I still think you can find some in Verret even though its early (albeit not that early, prime time is 2 weeks). Just fish mainly the "outer" cypresses that are in the deeper water. Little bit bigger beetle spin to get down deeper.

How do y'all pronounce this "chinq" you say? Is it like the derogatory term for an Asian?

always caught giant bream in Kincaid. We never caught a lot, but the ones we would catch would be huge.

They have the biggest chinqs I've ever seen, but the bluegill there are second to Spring Bayou.

I wonder why the ones at Toledo Bend are so small?

That's best but firm mud is alright as that are what these guys are one. If you throw in and the cork doesn't sink like a rock after a half a second move. Tiny watermelon PUMKIN tube or anything like that.

I smelled a bream bed yesterday in the pond across from my house. In SE GA. I will investigate further in the coming days

How do y'all honestly enjoy catching bream? I haven't bream fished since I was 12 years old.

That's un-American! Cold beer and bluegills is a good time!
