There was an interesting bit done by John Oliver on the Daily Show about the success of sweeping gun regulation in Australia. It was a three part bit (I think last Tues - Thurs).
I think it does a good job pointing out that gun regs can have a substantial impact on reducing gun violence if a genuine effort is taken by all parties involved.
It also refutes your point that gun reg don't and never will work
Y'all ought to at least watch it.

I prefer to not be dependent on the government for my safety. Thanks though.

Even if it was successful, the "success rate" of gun regulation is EXTREMELY low. Look at other countries that have had it and how many times it has lead to genocide. You won't be surprised.
I respect your opinion but you don't have many facts supporting your points, dude.
EDIT: I also cannot stand the term "gun violence" because to me, violence is violence, and humans will be violent with anything. Attaching a tool to it makes it no more or less violent. You could just as easily be focused on "knife violence", which in America is statistically more likely to happen to you than being shot by a rifle.

Not interested in giving up my god given rights to protect myself. Governments don't Give rights they RECOGNIZE them. Therefor they cannot be taken away since it wasn't theirs to give or take.
I pray you never have a run in with a burglar or killer because you may not be able to help yourself

I don't want to do what Australia did. They took the pussy way out. We are the United Damn States of America and we like guns and beer and V8 power and titties.
If they want us to go around being the world's police, don't tell us how to run our shite.

Because you're not responsible for your own actions, it's much easier for them to blame an inanimate object. Being poor is no excuse either, where were all the rampant murders during the Depression?
