bull shite

he was never that good as a saint and was as expensive as a top QB for his era

y'all are all just remembering the few flashes of brilliance and forgetting the 100 times he ran sideways and lost yards or fumbled

Always the contrarian just for the sake of being one.

He was overpaid . . . like a lot of players.

After the first year or so the lateral running accusation was mostly bull shite. He became a much tougher, effective runner. And, yes, he was an integral part of the Super Bowl Championship year.

Based upon personal experience and that of a few others who were around him in N.O., that simply is not true.

He never lived up to the hype, but he was a huge part of the run in 2009. He dominated the Cardinals and was effective against the Vikings in the passing game. Scored a touchdown in both games (multiple against the Cardinals) and was a weapon in each. Can't fault him too harshly for being generally mediocre considering how useful he was in the playoffs.

He was fun at times? Yeah. This guy was also fun "at times." So what?

But for taking him 2nd overall in the draft, Reggie was a huge bust. The 2nd overall pick is supposed to be a perennial all-star. Y'all are talking about Reggie's contributions to the 2009 team, but he didn't even have half as many rushing yards as the guy who was an undrafted free agent. OK, so Reggie wasn't just about rushing yards. He had 855 total yards to Pierre Thomas' 1114. Meachem, Colston, and Roby also had more total yards.

You're dismissing that way to easily. Shaun Alexander the previous season signed a deal that was worth less total and only $2 million more guaranteed. After he had won the NFL MVP.

Relatively speaking, if you look at what the player signed for compared to the average salary of his position Bush might have been one of the most overpaid players in the 12 years.

Rank that years roster 1-53, based on how unlikely the team still wins the title that year if the player got hurt week 1 for whole season eg Drew is 1.

Now tell me where are you putting Bush on that list?

Below Brees. So what? I'm pretty sure your metric, whatever it may be, is whack.

I badly worded it, but I just was trying to see if hypothetically you had to remove 1 player from the team how many players would you choose to keep over Bush

Also if you think a guy who averaged 10 touches in 14 regular season games was the 2nd most important player that year then you are nuts.

There was nothing he did that that was integral to the Saints offensive ability.

And yet, if I took the time I could easily pull up more than one game in which he arguably made the plays that won the game.

I'm not saying he wasn't overpaid for God's sake. I am saying we did get some value out of the guy and he added a special dimension to our offense. And that's a fact whether or not Sproles does just as much at a lower price.

Anyone remember the fumble against Tampa in 2007 that ended any shot at the playoffs?

Overpaid? We won a Super Bowl. Consider it money well spent.
