This man has unreal elusiveness. He might not have lived up to his hype, but I miss watching this dude

That 06 season it seemed like every time we needed a first down, we could throw to him in the flats and he would always move the chains. He ran to the sideline, but past the 1st down marker.
He was frustrating at times, but I'm glad we used the #2 pick on him. Seemed like the saints sold out of season tix right after he was drafted.

That TD reception in the NFCCG he had to put us up 28-21 was epic. He was able to fight off his defender, get open and thrust himself over the goal line before getting knocked out of bounds.
I remember throwing up 4s with both hands and telling everyone around me "Super Bowl 44! Super Bowl 44!" I thought that would be the TD that clinched us our first Super Bowl ever.
I had no idea the rollercoaster of emotions I was in store for in the next hour or so.

This. The media built up this unrealistic hype about Reggie, as a result, some fans had unrealistic expectations as well.

Damn if he could have stayed healthy. Even last season with the fins, he had those injury streaks. The one season where he stayed somewhat healthy was the Superbowl run. Wish him the best, but man if he'd of only accepted his role in the O like Sproles.

I love the uniforms we were wearing at the 2:45 mark in the first video.

This.
Sproles was always the more efficient player.
Bush brought star-power, hype, and helped us win a SB. For that, I will be forever grateful... I don't miss him, tho.

+1 and you can add Ricky Williams to this list IMO. Both always gave it all in the field but for one reason or another the fan base never gave them their proper due.

a complete a-hole, talented football player, but a complete a-hole. I'll take Deuce over Reggie any day. don't miss Bush at all.
there I said it.

If you put aside subjective things like hope, hype expectations etc and judge Bush only on his talent, cost of acquisition, and salary level the conclusion is obvious.
The cost to get him was to high(imagine what a RB would have to do in college in today's game to get drafted 2nd overall)
He was clearly talented enough to be on the team but his salary was outrageous especially the way the Saints have constructed their teams.
An overlooked fact about the Reggie years is that if it weren't for the CBA issues in the NFL at the time he probably would have been gone a year earlier. Without that uncapped year I really don't think the Saints pay him the $8 million he made.

His pricetag was worth the hype, excitement and rejuvenation to the Saints and fans...he was worth more than just his on-field performance.

I doubt you know what you are talking about here. Have had some very close friends deal with him directly professionally while in NOLA and from their accounts you couldn't be more wrong.

And where were you during all this?
Australia?
Australia?

No, I don't live in NOLA.
They worked with him in several charitable organizations in the city. Very often Reggie wouldn't even do things in front of the camera or the press but would show up several hours early and volunteer to help set up/afterward to help break tables down/stack chairs, hand deliver donations, etc. Never big timed anyone and always really personable with other volunteers.

I also don't have any friends in Florida...so when I refer to friends it always means back home.

He wasn't the greatest punt returner. But, I loved when he was back there and the crowd chanted "Reggie Reggie Reggie". The electricity in the air was unreal!

Man, his cuts against Arizona are literally my favorite runs in saints history
