I know, we still haven't finished this year's draft, but think about this...we could potentially see the saints draft QB, RB, WR with their early picks next year.

QB-time to start grooming an heir apparent instead of carrying a journeyman as a backup. Obviously no need to waste money on a first rounder, but 3rd or 4th round could be feasible.

RB-Sproles contract nearing its end and Ingram in his make or break year, plus the wearing on Pierre could make this a position of need next year

WR-with Devery getting up in age, if there's a deep threat playmaker on the board, it might be worth our while.

Ok...now back to this year's draft.

Still gonna have some pieces to add to finish the transition on D, too. They've done well so far but it's not complete.

I definitely agree that next year would be the first year to grab a draft QB, but no earlier than in the 3rd. Don't think with our remaining 2 picks we should or need to go QB this year with 2 vet backups.

RB will likely need to be addressed as Sproles and Thomas are getting up in age. And if Ingram doesn't show up this year that could be bad for us.

At WR Henderson is already gone. We have two aging vets and two young unknowns. What happens here depends on how Toon and Morgan and a potential draft pick this year performs. If Morgan and Toon are both great we probably just need to address the slot. If they are both busts we are in trouble.

CB may also be a high area of need depending on how certain players play. DE is possibly up there too.

We take the best WR available in the first next year, no doubt about it IMO.

I'm not doubting that as a possibility, but I think a lot will depend on what happens this year and the the FA period next year. I do think we likely go WR in one of the first 3 rounds.

For instance, let's say no one pans out at LT, Brees has a career high in sacks and INTs, and we can't sign one in FA. I think our hand is forced to do whatever it takes to get an elite LT in the first.

Or Morgan and Toon turn into pro bowlers, making another top WR seem unnecessary when we still have Moore and Colston.

Not saying any of that is likely, but things that happens during the season and in FA definitely can change things.

Not sure about that. Could have had Keenan Allen and FO obviously thought WR wasn't that huge of a need. Chargers took him next pick after us.

Marcus Lattimore or Spencer Ware in the 5th (if available)wouldn't be mad.

Aren't y'all forgetting about Cadet? I think RB should be fine, unless injuries really derail this corps.

Add to that the uncanny ability this scouting department has on finding RBs as UDFA, and you might not see a RB drafted for a while. Then again, who the hell knows with this team.

I wouldn't rule out a qb this year.

Several potential stars still available... Jones, Nassib, Bray, Wilson, Barkley...

Barkley,no way in Hell! USC QB's never seem to do well in the NFL. Bray or Wilson I wouldn't mind, but I hope we keep picking defense. Armstead pick will be a steal I believe when we look back 5 years from now just my opinion.

I'd take Nassib or Barkley in the fifth. Both of those guys were potential first rounders once. It would be worth the risk

Not true. Payton said they were going to take that Pitt(?) WR but he went before they could complete the trade. Once he was gone they sped thing along to take Jenkins.

So obviously we are looking at WR.

I was trying to say I doubt the Saints will pick a WR 1st round next year. Wasn't trying to imply we don't need one at all. Allen was rated pretty high on many boards, I wonder why the Saints didn't. I guess it was mpre about OT at that point..

Marqise Lee would be more than worth trading up for.

HaHa and Tony Jefferson at Safety are names to watch too.

Gotcha. I think WR could be possible in the 1st if both Morgan and Toon turn complete bust this year. I don't think that will be the case though.

And yeah, they definitely wanted to get an OT as early as possible.

They got Stills so me thinks they don't trust Toon or Morgan fully...
