Was it when we went 2-9 with Curley Hallman or was there some other season?

For my lifetime, that one has to be at the top.

2011 obviously was worse than that year.

That's what came to mind first.
On the other hand, if expectations are factored in the following derserve consideration:
'74
'83
'89
'98

'99 IMO. That season sucked the life out of me.

I think 79,81,82. Living in NO all you heard was three out of four and going for more from the green slime. It was a nightmare to live in the big easy.

... when Curley 'Bout Crazy lost to Southern Miss .

I was at LSU during Curley, but to me it's 1998.
LSU went into the season ranked #8? nationally and got Drop Linebackered into a 4-7 season. I think Quincy Carter was at one point in the UGA game 18 of 19 passing. Suuuckkked.

We had so many close losses that year, though.

That 2-9 was the worst I experienced. Although, now that we're good, it's tougher to take the big game losses.

If it pertains to disappointments, the worst season has to be the '98 season. We entered the season ranked #7 and then proceeded to go 4-7. This was the first year of the famed Lou Tepper "Drop Linebacker" defense. I was a student at the time and knew we would be in trouble when we gave up 410 yds of offense to Idaho.
