I think Mingo has a world of potential at 3-4 OLB. I wouldn't be mad if they picked him up.

In three years he had 29 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, and 27 qb hurries. People who focus only on his last year forget to look at the whole picture. Mingo's potential is through the roof. He might not be able to start right away, but he would definitely be productive in his rookie year.

mingo as a situational player for his rookie year similar to bruce irvin's rookie season. I'd be fine with it!

That's what I'm thinking. Wilson and Butler as the starters. Then bring in Mingo and Galette to pass rush. I think both could be starters after this year

Anyone who's hating on him is a jackass. He was hurt most of last season and the one game he wasn't, he might've registered 6 sacks had he not left the game at halftime.

Mingo only played like 2 years of football going into college. He's still raw as hell and has unlimited potential. He also doesn't have medical concerns like Jones.

I honestly would take him over Jones and I'm not saying that as a homer. I like his potential more. Both Jones and Mingo have questions so why not take the guy with a higher ceiling of potential, more athleticism and less medical concerns?

I really think mingo played out of position at LSU. Rob could make him a special player

There is a group of Saints fans that think NO should pickup every single LSU player possible. There is another group of Saints fans that think NO shouldnt sign any former Tigers because of this. Mingo would be a great pickup. I would probably rather Star and Jones, but I would still be pumped about Mingo

I could just flip a coin between Mingo and Jones and I'd be happy with either result

If Mingo was projected as a DE in the NFL, he wouldn't go higher than the 3rd round. He's been projected as a 3-4 OLB by NFL scouts since his sophomore year. Thats why everyone who is paid to scout players sees him as a high 1st rounder.
Mingo will be a hell of a 3-4 OLB in the NFL. I hope it's here in NOLA.

I really don't think he's going to be good in the NFL. Is that enough of a reason?

The one thing I just don't get is people giving Jordan a lot more credit than mingo. They are practically the same player. Close to negligible differences physically and mingo probably has a little better production in college with more hurries in a conference that is generally seen as better.

I think a lot of the attitude on him around here comes down to reverse homerism. Some people don't want to favor him because they don't want to be biased which leads to bias. Not saying that's everyone, just a general feeling I get.

That said I would still prefer Jarvis. His production and playmaking ability was incredible in college. He's just a football player. I'll take a football player over an athlete every day of the week.

I would like to have him but only if Jarvis is off the board.

Oh, and if Star is still available, you take him. No questions asked.

For me it would be
1. Star
2. Jarvis
3. Mingo

You know, there's a lot of athletic people that ride the bench. I just don't see Mingo as a complete player. You see this every year...some guy with great times...but his technique is "raw", pretty much not developed. He's never played in the 3-4 so it's just a bunch of people projecting what might happen.

LSU made him put his hand in the dirt but for every play he applied pressure, two more found him going lateral or pushed out the box. One reason why people ran right at him. Sure he'll stop them on some sweep play but he never made enough plays at the line against the run.

This is why they shouldn't hate him.

He played solid in a 43, but I think he'll be great in the 34 once he figures it out. He's really athletic and you can't teach speed. I hope we land him at 15.

What?

In terms of production, they aren't that close. It's Jones.

Upside is a different argument.
