Ok, you've got to chose one "athlete" since 1950. He or she will participate in multiple events that are equally weighted. I'm not suggesting that any one of these events require an athlete to be successful, but the sheer amount of events should provide a clear picture.

- back nine at Augusta
- 1 on 1 basketball tournament
- 30 ABs against average High-A minor league starter - ranked by OBP
- 3 gymnastic vaults - best two score average
- 3 v 3 hockey tournament (your player plus two average NHL guys and your player can play goalie)
- 3 v 3 soccer tournament (ditto)
- 3 v 3 flag football tournament ( Andrew Luck all-time QB plus your player and an average WR and an average CB)
- downhill slalom
- 10k run
- 200m IM

Only 12 people get in tournament. Tournament competitions are 3 group games then a seeded, double elimination tournament. Events run in succession as listed with a new event starting every 2 weeks. You do not have to participate in an event, but you will get a 0 for said event. Withdrawing or sitting out due to injury counts as a 0 as well. Drop your highest and lowest score. MSB will vote after the field has been determined.

Go...

It is, but the word "athlete" gets thrown around here far too loosely. It takes a lot of shite to be a great athlete, hence the decathlon.

I think I'll go with Dustin Johnson.

This is tough, just picked Johnson because he's pretty tall and Athletic and would win the Augusta round easily.

this is just kinda dumb. IMO.

better thread would be which athlete could be a pro in the most sports or something

Which pro sports do you choose then? Which ones are considered more or less athletic?

I understand your point, but unless you have defined events for the competition, the discussion becomes even MORE subjective than it already is.

What if someone is terrible at football, basketball, and baseball, but dominates the other 10? Is he/she the best athlete? That is why it is all equally weighted.

I think Tiger Woods, Dustin Johnson, Ashton Eaton, LeBron James, Shaun White RGIII, Andrew Luck, Mike Trout, and Bryce Harper would all be solid modern-day nominees.

Some of these events are nuts. All of these dudes would get raped in a 10k. Make it shorter.

I would go with the best decathlete in Ashton eaton because I know he can throw, run, jump, lift, etc at a high level.

The answer is also an athlete who is probably no bigger than 6 feet or so based on the events.

Point guards, speedy centefielders, and cornerbacks would probably be good bets.
