Not saying to go and give him a max contract, geez... But we could probably offer him a contract that is considerate of his talents and fair to us. Face of the franchise, no, but he can be viewed as a significant piece to the puzzle.
He is a knucklehead but hell so is Eric Gordon just in a low key way. At least JR won't take nights off. He might make ill advised plays but he will play hard. A team sometimes needs that knucklehead or that bully to have a certain edge.
And oh yeah, JR is a Top 30 player, period. Even if a few teams have two superstars on one team (Mia, OKC, BOS,LA (both))
I'm all for at least inquiring into JR's services at a fair price, I think u could get him for 7-8 million a year and have a Top10 scorer on the team. Sign/trade for a All star caliber SF or PG and draft whatever position u don't get and that strarting five is legit.
To say its laughable is near sighted and refusing to recognize that the dude has matured somewhat recently. Hasn't had a single issue in New York and by now the old JR would of had at least two. Sometimes u have to take calculated risks.... This would be one of them...

Only logical explanation for thinking this.

JR is Jamal Crawford.

have a Top10 scorer
Is he valuable off the bench as a Microwave scorer? Sure. Do the Pelicans already have a great scorer off the bench? Yes.
Why spend more money on a second bench player when there are bigger needs?
