Kinda like Nashville then huh?

For some reason I thought there were several La based restaurants that had moved into Birmingham..... Oh well!

Thanks!

Why would you want that?

Last time I was in Birmingham, which is a pretty good food city, I ate at Cafe DuPont. Fried oysters are amazing.
Hot Fish Club was very good but it's been a bit since I've been.

What Martini said.

But if you insist on a LA connection, a bit of research quickly turns up Copelands amd ZEA's. I also recall that Katrina's diaspora created some BHM connections in unusual places.

I spend a lot of time there, a few good places, as mentioned, but once you run through those the drop off is abysmal. Every town has a few good high end places, what defines a city is the middle ground, in B'ham that is the chains.

Mud town Cafe by the Summit is a N.O. style neighborhood joint, but I have not been there in a couple of years. When I ask advice of locals I get, Jim n' Nicks (BBQ), then a litany of chains.

Some of the Bama posters think I am too hard on B'ham, and by experience I have very little respect for the food tastes of the people there.

Good luck.

Saw's BBQ in Homewood is legit. Best smoked chicken I've ate. I could drink the white sauce. There's a place on 280, across from the Home depot, that's run by La guys. I think Ragin Cajun's? It's good.

Anyone from Louisiana would think Ragin' Cajuns is gross. At least, that's my native opinion.

But Saw's is legit. Best BBQ in the country, and much better than that "I have to wait in line for two hours" place in Texas.
