Going to see the Doobie Bros. tonight at the River Center Performing Arts Theater. Its part of a Black Tie Gala, but despite the Tux, I feel fortunate to see these guys one more time on their farewell tour, esp in a small venue. Saw them a few times back in the 70's/80's. Only member missing that is still alive will be Jeff "Skunk" Baxter, who IMO is among the best Guitar players. Anybody else attending this show or have comments to offer?

Saw the Doobies in their heyday in the 70s and thought they were the tightest band I ever heard. Masters of live concert performance.

I was supposed to go, but, I'm sick. Wife will be there, though. Hope it's a good show for you guys...

For you old timers, when you think back to the Doobie Bros do you think pre Michael McDonald or post? They sound like 2 entirely different bands to me, each with their own qualities. I wasn't born yet, but I've always wondered how fans reacted to the two different sounds.

2 bands to me. I now prefer the McDonald version, but wasn't always that way.

I'd go with the old lineup, but that's the only version I listened to. Really wasn't my fave group but I got free tix when they played the Assembly Center in I don't remember what year. Maybe '72.

It was awesome. Great concert. One of the best I've ever seen there, and I saw the Who, Yes, Stones, George Harrison, Zappa and countless other shows there in the glory days of rock.
