Where did this idea that the defense is inexperienced come from?

So I'm watching the A&M replay on CST and something occurred to me. Over the course of the season.....
rasco-significant time against Johnny Football
J Collins- picked off two passes and played in the secondary quite a bit.
A Johnson & E Ferguson- both played big SEC game snaps.
Linebackers- probably the deepest positions on the defense. Lots of experience from last year.
Ronald Martin-filled in for loston and reid.
Idk where the media got this idea that the LSU defense will be inexperienced. Maybe they weren't starters but they all got PT and most played well. Not worried about the defense.

Because if you get your head out your arse you can see the depth behind these guys have literally no experience.

Maybe the mass exodus of key position players

Well that was a bit harsh.

Most of these guys had no experience before last year...

Same thing could be said of the above listed players last year. They seemed to play well in back up roles.

Some of the projected starters also have very little experience in the games. The question is stupid. If you take a look at the roster, you can clearly see why experience is a concern on defense.
You can't always field a great defense with minimum experience. I think we'll be ok but any injuries(which are going to happen) and you're starting to get uncomfortable. I'm concerned about the DEs. All it takes is an injury in an area considered a strength(DT) and then you're looking at problems due to massive question marks. LSU lost a shitload of dlineman and they usually rotate at least 2 guys in every dline position.

Jalen Mills, Patrick Peterson, Tyrann Mathieu, Eric Reid, Sam Montgomery all played well young with no real experience.

Jeremy Hill, Trai Turner, Micah Eugene, Johnny Football, Amari Cooper.
Tell me again how first year players aren't good.

Every player can't be those guys. Some take longer to develop. Ego finally looks like he's developing and this is his 4th year here. It's stupid to think LSU is going to always field freak athletes in every single position who can come in and start immediately like PP/TM. We recruit well but even some of the freakiest athletes need development sometimes...
If you don't think it's a concern then you don't watch much football. Potential doesn't always translate to the field immediately.

The new starters have played some. Their backups have not. There will be injuries and that means inexperience. Welcome to football.

Actually I've watched alot of football. Maybe I'm just an optimist but I've seen young player after young player be game changers every year.

Young guys in secondary have played enough, question will be depth, lucky we recruit athletes that can be taught. Our ends have sane amount of experience as kiki and sam did before 11. Again depth an issue. Linebackers, well we havent been this deep n a long time.
Im worried a lil, but guys will have to step up, look at minter. No one saw that production coming. I think we are beyond being bad when we recruit so well and have chavis. D will never be sub par. Prob be a top 10 d this year.
We arent playing any offensive juggernauts. Uga will prob have the best passing attack we see, and we will see how johnny responds. Other than that other teams werent known fir their O last season.

The exodus of players will be felt this season, particularly on defense. After the starters, there will be little experienced depth on defense.

I feel you, but we have to trust the coaches to get these guys ready. Since 09 the d has not been a major problem. We have lost serious talent since then. They will be good enough. Drop offs happen, but a couple always find a way to have an exceptional season. Every year someone steps up on d that the fans felt meh about.

No one said they wouldn't be good. You're thread title specifically says "inexperienced", which they absolutely will be.

Playing time as a backup and having a starting role is completely different. A guy like Rasco saw snaps in pretty much every game last year and did very well in spot duty. That is totally different than playing on 80-90% of the snaps.
I don't think anyone is saying that LSU's D won't be good or lacks potential. Hell, I'm sure there are All-American caliber players all over the depth chart. The fact is, they have yet to prove themselves as every down type players. Time will tell, and I strongly believe we will watch one of the best defenses in the nation by the end of the year. But to call them inexperienced is pretty spot on in my book.
