As a small business owner, I definitely see the fees I pay credit card companies everyday....and it sucks. Visa has pretty amazing growth year over year and is projecting 15-20% growth all the way through 2017 and they are boosting their divided BIG TIME, it went from .22 a quarter to .33 a quarter which is a 50% boost last year. I know it seems to be trading at a steep ratio but I am thinking of buying some based on growth,no debt, and dividend growth.

Also in the gas station business Im in, a company like Visa raking in a percentage means higher inflation is higher income for visa. When gas was $3 a gallon they made less off me than they do today, so it definitely seems like a play with the cost of everything rising around us. Also I read a report recently from Etrade that Visa is also huge in the adult industry which is a multi-billion dollar industry online and that none of the adult processors take Amex and pretty much rely on visa and actually charge adult websites $750 to set up processing and then charge massive rates!!!!

Anyways thinking about buying a batch today, wanted to see if anyone else has any and what they think about its future?

not just that, there is a rise in prepaid visa cards like the rush card. Look visa doesn't charge me anything to be inside my business but considering I process about $15M/yr in CC between my 4 stores, Im paying at 2% conservatively bc there is a swipe fee + fees vary from visa to amex on the high end.....I probably pay about $300k/yr in CC fees and honestly with gas stations, many barely make any profit when you pay with a CC.....now think about all the businesses around you and how few people carry cash anymore and how few businesses take AMEX these days combined with how few ppl can even get an amex.....

and visa seems like a strong play for the future to me, just seeing if anyone knew more about it than I....I just bought some at $166.90

I agree with everything you said. People are going to continue to rely on Credit Cards either out of convenience or to float their lifestyle.

When Visa went public 6 or 7 years ago, I was looking at Mastercards share price at the time compared to their IPO several years earlier and Visa looked to be in a great position to match or surpass them and it has.

damn man you tripled your money in 4-5 years! That is a damn good investment plus your yield on cost is high now like 3%, that is awesome.

The stock looks pretty expensive to me, even for a high growth stock

I've owned mastercard and sold it. Not a smart move. I doubled my money, but could've done so much better if I still held it.

Purchased Visa and still own. Good stock with lots of growth potential, but I'm no expert.

Tom, its actually trading at abt 23x earnings minus Visa's writedowns, its not 75x earnings, you really gotta do your reasearch, 50% dividend growth each of the last 2 years and its basically starting to look like visa may be the next great dividend growth company. Listen if you got $100k in divdends in 2011, youd make $300k in dividends today ontop of making big dollars in share appreciation.....society is going more and more paperless. In my convenience stores Im about 85% CC, actually my best store does about $15k/day in sales with $2k cash being a superb day. Also cash is pretty much only used for transactions under $3 or lottery, anything else and it's all CC's, even the poorest people they have prepaid cards these days.

85% credick/debick cards? Dang. Wouldn't have guessed that at a convenience store.
