f-ing carpenter bees are eating up my deck. i've sprayed the whole thing with double strength "suspend" without any luck, they keep boring holes. the deck is made with treated lumber, but it is less than 10 yrs old, therefore the treatment doesn't have arsenic, etc that the good stuff used to.
any advice is appreciated.

Get you one of those hand held vacuums.

It makes a satisfying sound when it crunches one up.

Not sure if you're able because its a deck, but if you can paint it, they will leave it alone.

I put some Sevin dust in a ketchup squeeze bottle and blasted the holes with the Sevin. Killed em all. If the bee goes into the hole the seven gets on them and kills them.

it's a treated wood deck that i stained. i'd rather not paint and mess up "the look". i'm really suprised that suspend didn't work. i may try talstar.
seprate from this location, i knocked down some old fencing this past winter that was chock-a-block full of them hibernating. wd-40 did them in when i sprayed it up their bore holes (insert joke).

i hear ya man, Ive done it several times over the years and works every time, but dont blame you one bit for not wanting to. Only other thing ive done that helped some was get wasp spray and coat the area and holes where they are trying to bore, it will work, but you will have to do it a couple times over a couple weeks to keep them away.

I like to nail them going in or out of the holes with just the air from a Crosman pump airgun. Takes care of wasps that get in the screen porch also w/o damaging the screen. Best if you get within 4-5 inches from the enemy with muzzle

that will work but it deteriorates over time with oxygen...best bet is 1st:pyrethium powder
mixed with petroleum jelly...2nd choice would be sevin dust mixed with same...apply with a small paintbrush around the entrance holes they leave... wait until after the larvae hatch and they will also die ast they are exiting...then plug the holes with cork or your choice of filler to prevent others from entering after the poison is gone...

I had to deal with some carpenter bees last year. . . two options that worked for me:

Wasp, Bee spray- it will kill them, or at least agitate them and make them come out of the wood where you can easily finish them.

Silicone. Wait until evening when they are in their holes and just silicone them bastards up. They won't even try to burrow out. Use clear silicone if you are worried about the look of the wood.

My grandad was a sniper with one of these...

He kept it for red wasps in the boat. Might mess up your stain, but they fall out of the sky.
