I have used Amdro for years and it has always killed a mound in about a day. But i have a stubborn mound, not very big, that they are just not eating it. I've used the same bottle on some other mounds with success. What gives?

ETA: treat the mound with it and they will die, then broadcast it all over your yard and you will not have another mound for at least 6 months

Mixing a little corn meal with poison works around here. (I just buy the cheapest bags of poison, Andro is sort of high priced) I was told corn meal alone works, but I haven't tried it.

Gasoline will kill them for sure... along with your grass if you don't care about that.

The best ant powder I've come across is Bengal. The best liquid I've found is Ortho Home Defense. I use the liquid for all insects not just ants.

For preventative maintenance against ants I use Ortho Bug B Gon Max. Which seems to work better than their MAX Fire Ant Killer stuff. Don't ask me why.

Ortho fire ant killer, smells like vomit and is white, but kills the mound quickly.

Gas and matches works good too, but it leaves burn spots in the yard.

ETA: SP and
LINK

EATA: Pops swears up and down by spectracide once and done. Spread it out everywhere once a year, no ants.

Not in my experience, usually pretty quick which is why i've always stuck by it. Plus it's been a week and all the others are long dead.

I treated my yard with Roundup and all the grass died but I still have tons of ants. I must have gotten a bad batch or something.

Bengal roach spray got rid of mine in the bathrooms and in my shop.

Bengal ant poison is great but it's a pain to use if there's even a slight breeze. (it's a powder not a granule) I also find it doesn't treat near the number of mounds it claims, at least not at the dosage they say to use.

I use Ortho Bug b gone in the hose adapter to treat the widespread active areas of the yard.
