As many of you know people in America are eschewing human child birth and opting for pets. There are lots of hotels and restaurants that allow pets to follow this trend.

Tell us your stories. I'll start:

I had a black lab who bothered all my guests at a party, begging for food. I decided to do an experiment. When the party was over, let's see how many burgers Maggie could eat.

She stopped at 9. Rolled over and took a nap.

I put her on a diet the next day.

DAMN!!!

I have cats...no real stories to tell. Although I have one cat who is blind and will try to eat off my plate if I'm not careful.

Thibault(named after Rene Thibault) was picked up from the last cage before Auchwitz, so he was very happy, then he ate his first leftovers and he thought he had arrived at the gates any how. He ate foods that crossed so many boundaries. Chateau Briand, friccasseed duck, and beyond, that dog was just happy to sit beside the table smelling the food.

My own Maggie jumps hurdles, plays dead, dances, shakes, and rolls over for cheddar cheese.

As for me, I taste whatever dog food I buy her to see if it's any good, and as reference for future meals should Republicans ever get their way.

my old girl cat will go to town on hooters wings. she will eat the bones and all

found this out in college when we would go to hooters for happy hour and i would always bring wings home. i would throw them away that night after i ate them and the next day for some reason the trash was always knocked over and the wings on the ground. was weird because the bones were all broken and stripped clean. i chalked it up to a drunk roommate knocking over the trash and being lazy and not picking it up. woke up one night to the trash being knocked over and when i finally got out of bed to see what was going on, my cat was face deep in 911 wings from hooters

We don't feed our dog people food, but I hosted a bridal shower this morning and he got home before I had a chance to sweep the floors of crumbs, so he's had the best day ever for about an hour.

He normally eats Blue Buffalo brand.

When I was a kid we gave our dog tons of human food. Now, not so much. Just tiny tastes here and there. Much better for them from everything my vet has told me and that I've read.

One thing though. If I drop an ice cube on the floor my dog grabs it and eats it. Loves ice.

Stuff we eat like sipcy foods and cakes and whatever are bad for dogs, but raw meat and fruits and veggies are not "people food".

Lest we forget.. animals do not eat dry kibble in the wild

That said, feeding dogs that type of stuff as their meal is way expensive. But plain cooked chicken and rice is actually recommended when your animal is sick and needs to eat for medicine but won't touch their boring food.

My dad had a Doberman that ate a case of canned biscuits. He then proceeded to throw them up. Then, he proceeded to consume them once again. I'm not sure what happened after that.

Had a yellow Lab named Pete.

He could get a bite of people food and he would starve himself for days, thinking if he refused dog food long enough we would break down and give him more people food.

We lived in a small college town (Marion, AL) then and they (Judson College) had a cheerleader camp one summer. Pete could hear the girls and he jumped the fence and ran the half mile or so to the cheerleader camp. One of the maintenance men knew me and Pete, so he put him in his truck and brougth him home. He put Pete in the yard and started back to campus. Pete jumped the fence again and beat the guy back to campus.

Pete loved to go for a ride in the back of my truck. Some nights we would go to teh local ice cream place to get a cone, and one night we took Pete. I went to the window and said, "I wnat two cones, and a cup of ice cream form my dog." Pete was in the back of the truck watching with considerable interest. The lady got our cones and as she handed me the cup of icecream she offered me a spoon.

I said, "No thank you maam. I have neven been able to teach that dog to use a spoon."

Pete would chase the cup around the back of the truck until he got it into a corner and then very quickly finish the cup. when he was done, there was no ice cream detectable in the styrofoam cup.

The ladies would always stand at the window and watch him eat his icecream. when he would finish I would step out of the truck and take his empty cup to the trash can as he would watch hoping for seconds.

That dog loved soft serve.

Pete loved Bacon and Beggin strips. I taught him tricks with the beggin strips. He learned to speak with half of a strip broken into about five pieces.

He could speak, sit, lie down, roll over and shake hands.

When I would take out a beggin strip, he would go crazy and cycle through his tricks one after another with no promt at all. I guess he thought "One of these tricks has to work to get me a treat."

He took all of the fun out of "Speak", "Shake" and "roll over".
