Been wanting to do the same to make smoked fish dip with amberjack and to make some duck and goose jerky. I may just get a little chief for now. It's cheap and small and I have to store it indoors.
May want to search the food board.

I use the Bradley smoker. Fairly expensive and slightly underpowered. But it make some damn good ribs. Really easy to set up for smoke. I'm not sure it's worth the high price but its a pretty nice setup. Large online community for mods and recipes.

why electric? I bought a gas smoker- better heat control and backup during power outage

Heard good things about the Bradley. Only thing I've ever smoked was a wild hog hind quarter and that was on a charcoal smoker. Never messed with a gas one but I'm all about "setting it and forgetting it". Guess I'm cheap or lazy oh well.

Mrs. LSUwag bought me a Masterbuilt for Christmas and I love it. It is well built and cooks really nice. I used it today to do a ham. I use it as often as my bass grill.

I wore out a Masterbuilt Electric Smokehouse. We used that thing all the time. Its easy to get good results with it.I had my family convinced I knew how to BBQ.When it died I got a Masterbuilt Xtra wide gas smoker.I like it better because I can put a whole brisket or rack of ribs and they fit with room to spare.BPS had them on sale the other day.Very nice unit.

Don't forget about the Big Green Egg

I have an Egg and an MES 40". I LOVE the MES as it's simple set the temp, add chips every 45 min or so and forget about it until it's done good smoke, good bark, and good smoke ring on the meat.
The Egg is great also, however takes a little while to figure out how to get the temp set for a 12 hour smoke on it. Egg gives a little more flavor and little more smoke but IMO MES is just too easy.

I think I have the Cajun Cooker or something like that. Works well for the money. But I plan on getting an egg once my current pit dies

The ignorance displayed here is often mindnumbing.
