We signed a world class striker?????? Thank god i thought we had just signed Higuain. I'm a little more relieved now

ETA: Get it? Bc Higuain is not even close to a world class striker

I'll feel a lot better about the signing if we sign a no. 10 or a winger (not named Nani).

Higuian is a better finisher than Giroud but he still struggles to create his own shot. I don't like that we paid so much for him, but I suppose that's the market rate. He's also unlike a typical Wenger player, as he's not the best with the ball at his feet.

Maybe we are getting Felliani as well.

For Higuain to be effective, we will have to produce chance after chance for him. Hopefully Wilshire can step up in that department as he's been fairly disappointing in chance creation.

alright bud, lets just stick with giroud, gervinho, Walcott and podolski.

Higuain is top 25 or so in the world imho. Which to me makes him world class

Top 25 strikers or overall players?

World class is Bergkamp, Henry, Van Persie. Higuain is a minor upgrade from Giroud, certainly won't make the difference between our current form of competing for fourth and our proclaimed goal of competing for titles

Strikers, sorry didn't clarify

I tried to make the number conservatively large, I'd probably rate him around 20. But I also don't have as much experience watching regular la liga matches as some so my guess comes mostly from the last 3-4 years of whenever he's played CL/el classicos/Argentina matches.

Got it.

Wasn't trolling, legitimately curious.

So there are 20 world class strikers in your opinion?

I thought it was supposed to be some sort of exclusive club.

When you think of the thousands of strikers on this planet, 20 sounds elite.

Elite? I thought we were talking about world class here.

In reality, all footballers playing in a top league in the world would be considered elite. They are elite athletes playing at the highest stage.

My definition of world class would be any player who would theoretically (removing systems as much as possible) start at any club in the world.

Higuain is not world class. If he was, he wouldn't be moving from RM to Arsenal.

Lame attempt at humor completely failed because I used the wrong term.

That's a decent enough definition and reflective of what you would assume the two words would mean together, but it's a term that means so many different things to so many different people that it really means nothing.

I've found that for a lot of people, their definitions are just expansive enough to include their favorite players, or whichever player they're gushing about at the time.

wait, you mean to say whenever people say "[INSERT USMNT PLAYER HERE] is world class" they probably aren't thinking it through??

I don't think Higuain is world class but I'm willing to stay slightly optimistic as Wenger wanted him when he was at River Plate and still wants him now.

I didn't want to go there directly.

Higuain isn't a terrible purchase. He's obviously an excellent goalscorer and isn't completely worthless when involving himself in build-up play. May not be an absolutely ideal situation for him, but he's a good player.

The Times is going with it now. Looks like it's a done deal. £115k/wk. £22m.
